Rude front desk clerk….I guess asking about the difference in booked price vs charged price is not kosher in fashionable Carmel ? And the snarky comment “have you stayed in Carmel?” Was that condescending or what? Oh, and the 6:15am alarm going off was a special touch…really? Doesn’t your cleaning staff check these things? Way over priced for the amenities and the staff!!

We only stayed one night, but absolutely loved our time at the Carmel Mission Inn, and will definitely be back here any time we're in the area. First off, the location is fantastic — just walking distance from local boutiques, coffee and a grocery store right across the street in Carmel Valley. But the true magic of this place is the friendliness and kindness of the staff, and all the little details. For us, it was everything from the wooden room keys with sweet little messages to the postcards offered in the lobby, the spacious outdoor seating area, the luxury toiletries, soft towels and robes, and absolute stellar cleanliness and upkeep! The staff was so friendly, accommodating and kind. Every single person we encountered was smiling and sweet! In the past, we've always stayed at little B&Bs when we've visited the area, but Carmel Mission Inn is definitely THE place to go, and we'll be staying here on every trip back in the future : )

Fees upon fees. Extra $100 dollars for a “pet friendly” room that is non-refundable. Paid on-line for a resort fee. At property had to pay an additional service fee for things as internet etc. Ridiculous! All of this should have been included in the price of the room!!! It wasn’t cheap to begin with!

A bit surprised by the quality given the massive price tag. The room was noisy and cold with no heat & the bed was uncomfortable. We were really disappointed in the room. The shining light was a lovely bartender who was very pleasant. Carmel is worth the stop but try staying elsewhere.

We really liked the room we booked with the balcony. Unfortunately we had a terrible sulfur smell coming out of the bathroom and it was leaking into our room. It was overwhelming and we had to end up switching rooms. We were treated as if we were the problem and felt disrespected, the room they switched us to had no balcony. They originally didn’t apologize or inform us we were getting downgraded to a different room with no balcony. We had to ask for some kind of compensation or refund of cheaper rate which they couldn’t provide since we booked through Expedia. Overall it was a nice hotel, front desk staff wasn’t very educated or friendly. The restaurant staff was very pleasant. We liked the breakfast menu and specialty coffees. May give it one more try in the future.

Good location away from the central Carmel.... near the eating places and quiet part of the city for coffee, shopping and taste of international cuisines. Property is well maintained, the amenities and accessories inside the room are clean and new. Very pet friendly accommodation for water and doggy treats are normal practice all over Carmel.

The hotel itself was very modern and nice. Check in was easy and parking was easy but can get pretty crowded. The person who first checked us in sounded like he hated his life though. Be wary of the noise, you can definitely hear your neighbors, and it’s right across from the Irish pub, which plays music until 2am.

I rarely write reviews but felt compelled to do so regarding the hotel front desk personnel and management - 2 star rating because of terrible hotel customer service. Our room, property and hotel restaurant (and its staff) were wonderful. However, my card on file was charged without my consent and we were checked out before 11am and while having breakfast. The server ran after us thinking we were skipping out while we were at front desk learning of being checked out without us doing so. To make matters worse, 3 front desk staff over course of 3 days could not tell me why this happened. I had to call and ask for the breakfast receipt because it was not on my invoice. Last phone call I made I asked to speak to Manager (again) but she was off on Monday - man I spoke with reassured me Manager would call next day. One week later and no call - nothing. I will not stay here again.

Spa and pool was awesome staff and location is good just could hear the cars on the highway in the morning but great place to stay for the weekend
