Downtown Carlisle Townhouse

2 bedroom, 1.5 bath townhouse located in the heart of Carlisle and walking distance to numerous shops, restaurants and pubs. In addition to on-street parking, there is 1 off-street parking about 2 minute walk away. Recent remodel and nearly new furnishings throughout. 2 minute drive to Dickinson College and 6 minutes to the US Army War College/ Carlisle Barracks. Downtown Harrisburg is 25 minutes and Hershey Park is 40 minutes. We are a dog friendly property and even though this townhouse has very little green space, LeTort Park is a short 6 minute walk from the front door.

Fantastic Property for many uses
My older teen son and I stayed at the Carlisle townhome recently and really appreciated everything about this property. The owner, Rob, was more than accommodating to ensure our stay went well. His place is within walking distance of many restaurants, antique shops, boutiques, parks, Rita’s custard, bookstores, old fashioned candy shop, historically relevant places, etc. we felt safe parking on the street right outside the townhome, though a public garage is within a couple blocks. There’s also a small fenced backyard that could be used if u bring a pet. We took advantage of the well stocked kitchen to make our dinners, appreciated having use of the full size washer and dryer, and enjoyed relaxing in the tv and sitting areas upstairs and down. The place is well decorated and nicely furnished. We will use if we come again and available, and will recommend to family and friends as well. Thank you, Rob!

We stayed here for a weekend and enjoyed the location to the downtown area and walking distance to Dickinson. The home is clean and stocked with things that help make the stay more comfortable. Our host was so responsive, warm and kind!

Good location but not for us
Overall, the stay at this location was ok. A few things to consider prior to booking that I wish I was aware of beforehand is the check in process and the owners request for our dog to be crated while unattended. I’ve found rentals off of VRBO for many years and this is the first time I’ve had a host ask to meet beforehand to go through check in. The owner was very nice; however, I don’t like feeling rushed when I’m traveling and the owner asked to meet at a certain time to walk through check in. I could understand this process if the property was being rented to a larger group, but it was myself, my husband, and our dog. Once I arrived, the owner proceeded to ask me to crate our dog when we leave the house. Of course this is up to the property owner, but this should have been communicated beforehand. In general, I would say this home and the town of Carlise is not dog friendly. It was a challenge to find somewhere for my dog to relieve herself which we ended up finding a spot a few blocks from the house. Overall, the house is charming, but the cleanliness needs improvement. I refused to walk barefoot because my feet kept getting dirty. We found a pair of dirty underwear and a clipped toe nail which was a little gross. The location of the house is loud, so it’s something to consider if you’re looking for peace and quiet. The bed in the master bedroom would benefit from an upgrade since the bed was super uncomfortable. Overall, the property just wasn’t what we were hoping for.

Great rental
We were in Carlisle for a funeral for the mother of a close friend. The location was very convenient to where we needed to be and there is a restaurant across the road that has a wonderful breakfast! Rob was very helpful and was going to meet us but we arrived in town later than we expected so he just gave us the door code and then we called him when we got there and he went over everything pertaining to the tv and other things on the phone with my husband, if you are traveling with animals there is a small fenced in area out back and there is a park a couple of blocks down from the townhouse but we didn’t have time to go visit the park since we were just in town for 2 nights. The townhouse has everything you need and we will be using it again if we need to make more trips to Carlisle at any time.
