About this property
1 bedroom accommodation in Cardiff
This is coastal escape at its simplest and most beautiful, just you, the sea and the horizon.. Set within the peaceful grounds of Tresilian Wood, the Caban is a beautifully crafted, octagonal retreat overlooking the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. With uninterrupted sea views stretching to the horizon, this is a place designed for slowing down, switching off and soaking in the ever-changing beauty of the Welsh coastline.
Handcrafted and full of character, the caban blends natural materials with soft Welsh textures to create a warm and inviting space. Large windows frame the sea beyond, drawing the outside in and filling the interior with light. The open-plan studio layout features a comfortable double bed, dining area and wood burner, making it equally suited to cosy evenings or relaxed mornings watching the waves. Thoughtfully styled with simplicity in mind, it offers everything needed for a peaceful and restorative stay.
Just outside, your own private facilities include a well-equipped kitchenette and separate shower room, allowing you to enjoy the charm of a more traditional retreat without compromising on comfort. A garden table and seating area provide the perfect spot to dine outdoors, while the fire pit and BBQ make long, relaxed evenings under the open sky more inviting.
The caban sits within seven and a half acres of arboretum and wild gardens, right beside the historic St Donat’s Castle. This quiet corner of the Vale of Glamorgan feels wonderfully unspoilt, yet remains within easy reach of Cardiff, just 25 minutes away. The surrounding Heritage Coast is a haven for walkers and nature lovers, with dramatic cliffs, hidden coves and far-reaching sea views at every turn. It’s a place where wildlife thrives and the landscape shifts beautifully with the seasons.
Nearby villages and market towns offer a warm Welsh welcome, with traditional pubs, independent shops and locally sourced produce, while the area itself is rich in history, folklore and a strong sense of place. The Caban forms part of a thoughtfully created retreat by owners Tom and Paula, whose passion for craftsmanship and the Welsh landscape is evident throughout.
There is a true sense of cwtch here, that uniquely Welsh feeling of comfort and belonging, making it easy to unwind and feel completely at ease. Whether you’re escaping for a romantic break or simply looking to reconnect with nature, the Caban offers a truly special stay in one of Wales’ most captivating and quietly lesser-known corners.
