I was actually quite surprised by the gorgeous landscape of Caprock Canyons State Park on the southern edge of the Texas panhandle. It's the third largest state park in Texas and has several hiking, biking, and equestrian trails. It's also home to the official bison herd of Texas! #texas #caprockcanyons #hiking #roadtrip

One of the many stunning views along the Haynes Ridge trail. The ascent to the ridge from the canyon loop trail is extremely strenuous, but then the trail is easy going along the top of the ridge with eyefulls galore. Take the ridge trail to where it meets up with the upper canyon trail and turn north to go past the fern cave and the last dance hoodoo on your way back to the north parking lot.

One of the most beautiful state parks in Texas! This is just off the southern fork of the upper canyon trail.

The road through the park is a five mile scenic drive with gorgeous views in every direction.
