Rural mountain Spanish villa
Villa is in a great location if you want to experience rural Spanish life in a mountain setting.
However that comes with a couple of kilometre drive along a hilly country road which is in part unmade. If hiring a car, something to consider.
At times power and water are off line but nothing too drastic.
Property could have been cleaner for our arrival and requires new pool chairs.
Setting is very peaceful and stunning with excellent pool.
The local village is lovely to walk around and has several good restaurants and tapas bars.
The villa is about 30 minutes from the nearest beach and a large range of shops and shopping centre.
We had a lovely stay, pool table and board games on hand.
The villa information regarding who the local contacts are needs updating. Pool maintenance was by Steve and he was very helpful. Many thanks.

Unique & Lovely Home
Lovely and spacious house nestled in a quaint village. My family enjoyed relaxing by the pool in this gorgeous location. The only word of caution I would give is to not try to find this location at night, you will get lost. It is off of a winding dirt road. We loved being away from all of the hustle and bustle of the city and to really enjoy the Spanish life!

Stunning property set up in the hills, very peaceful and relaxing location with beautiful views. Pool and patio area is perfect surrounded by plants and with views down the valley. House is very well equipped and nicely decorated and the dart board and pool table are a big added bonus. Drive to property, as has been mentioned, is via windy mountainous roads but it's only the last quarter of a mile that is on a rough track. Small town is about 5 min drive (walking it would be quite a trek) and is a tradition Spanish town with a few good places to eat. The Tapas bar is especially cheap. Would have given 5 stars for everything but there was a slight issue with our booking/arrival and communication was a bit awkward however everything got sorted eventually and the lady who looks after property locally was lovely and super helpful despite language barriers. We actually only booked this property at quite short notice as our original booked villa had to cancel and we are so glad they did as it was absolutely perfect for us. We will certainly be returning.

Lovely villa with spectacular scenery
This was our first time in Costa del sol and we had a fantastic time. The villa is situated high up in the hills and had a view that never ceased to amaze me. The villa itself was comfortable and welcoming. It was spacious inside and the children enjoyed the darts and the pool table upstairs when it got too hot for them outside. The pool was clean and so refreshing, surrounded by picturesque flowers and plenty of room to relax. We enjoyed several barbecues by the pool but also enjoyed eating in the local villages 5 minutes drive away. Nerja, Torres del mar and Torrox were all close by where we enjoyed swims in the sea and their beach restaurants. Fernando (the manager) was very helpful and sorted out a couple of minor problems we had immediately. All in all a wonderful villa with spectacular views, shame we had to return to England!

Gorgeous spot
We had a great stay at Casa Estrella. The directions were good and the house easy to find. The road leading to the actual house is a bit rough in places but not a problem. The house is in a fantastic spot with the most beautiful views. The house is very spacious and clean, well supplied and everything worked. The wifi and satellite tv connections were excellent. The pool table was good fun too. The pool and bbq area was lovely. All on one level which was nice. Gorgeous gardens too. Each evening the local goatherd with his goats passed by. Like stepping back in time hearing the goat bells. The local town was very pretty with nice restaurants and friendly people. Although the house is in a quiet location it is within easy reach of supermarket, golf, beach and sailing. The Malaga outdoor water sports centre on Lake Vinuela was very good with very friendly staff. We also spent a great day in Malaga itself which is under an hours drive away. Beautiful city with lovely bars and restaurants. All in all a fantastic holiday in a lovely property.
The property itself is located in a very remote location, which makes this a very peaceful place, if the roads to it are a little tight and twisty. The house itself has lots of facilities and the garden is beautiful.

Absolutely fantastic. Only challenge was to find the way to the property, but we managed :)

Aangenaam verblijf
Zeer goed uitgeruste woning.
Jammer!

Return visit to this lovely stylish, well equipped Casa
Great place to share a holiday with family or friends. The interior is well designed, modern, clean and cared for. The outside is perfect for chilling by the pool or gathering at the outdoor eating area and Barbeque.
The Goudi influenced garden has matured well and compliments the poolside space.
We spent some of our holiday resting by the pool and enjoying Andelusian produce on the Barbeque and some of our time exploring the beautiful very Spanish area.
Would definitely recommend.

Wonderful week in rural Spain
We had a great week at Casa Estrella. The villa itself is very well equipped and furnished - exactly what you would wish for in a second home in the Southern Spanish sunshine - and it provided a great base to explore the local area. We walked the Rio Chiller, bathed in Lake Bermejales and spent a day at the Alhambra Palace in Granada. We would highly recommend this villa - with a slight caveat for anyone who finds winding mountain roads a challenge, who may not be well suited to this region.

Lovely but a few issues which need addressing
Lovely property although we had some issues which need mentioning.
The beds could do with upgrading. Mattresses were pretty uncomfortable.
There were only 5 sunbeds for 6 people and not the ones shown in the photograph.
A big attraction to this property was the pool lights at night but they didn't work.
Pool guy was great but we didn't see any cleaners for the full two weeks which we found surprising. The last 5 villas we stayed at had a laundry change and clean half way through.
The shower in the second bedroom only ran cold. No hot water for the whole 2 weeks. The others were fine.
The trees around the pool from next door should be trimmed as the slightest bit of wind filled the pool with leaves.
Great location though and Canillas is a beautiful friendly village.

Perfect Holiday Retreat
I had a sensational visit to Spain. It was my first trip to Spain and from what I had heard from other people who have been to Spain I expected a lot! My expectations were not only met but exceeded! Gorgeous views of the valley and mountains, beautiful weather and incredible company. The house was clean and comfortable and is situated within a short walk or drive to a quaint little Spanish village. I had an amazing experience and will hopefully be going again soon!

Starry starry night
We took the late flight out to Malaga which meant we arrived at Casa Estrella at 2 am and successfully manoeuvred the country lane in the dead of night. It wasn't until the next morning that we were able to take in the amazing scenery of vast wide vistas with Mount Maroma rising behind.
Casa Estrella is spacious, clean and very well equipped with comfy sofas, modern bathrooms, UK TV channels (Rachel needed to sort out the new code for us as there was no signal), comfortable bedrooms (with firm beds) and everything you'd need in the kitchen. The pool table helped to keep us entertained as we had 5 days of bad weather out of 9 and the pool was too cold to swim in for us although it looked very inviting and was very clean. The gardens are delightful. We had previously stayed near Comares and enjoyed watching the twinkling lights at night of Canillas de Aceituno - this time we could look back at Comares with its twinkling lights at night and shining in the sunlight during the day. Even though we had thunderstorms and torrential rain, it was interesting to watch the clouds tumbling down the mountains and to look down on the clouds in the valleys. As other guests have commented, on a clear night the starry sky is beautiful.
Casa Estrella is in a very Spanish location on top of a ridge alongside a few other properties which seem to be mainly Spanish owned. It was interesting to watch the local man at the top of the road who came up every day to tend his mules and dogs and land. The road ,once you're off the main road, is narrow and winding but tarmaced and manageable with care. The last steep bit round a bend as you climb is a dirt track but my husband found it ok in our Fiat Doblo as long as you're in low gear.
Michael was very helpful through the booking process and Rachel on hand locally if there are any problems. We can definitely recommend this villa.

Just perfect
As soon as we arrived and took in the georgeous "Gaudi" garden and lovely views we started to relax. Casa Estrella is also well placed to visit mountains, national reserves, the beach, Granada or Seville. On our first night we treated ourselves to a lovely meal at La Sociadade in the village, we could not have been more pleased as the unspoiltness of the restaurants Canillas de Acuituno.
We loved spending evenings at Estrella, sitting outside on the terrace taking in the fabulous sunsets, feeling very relaxed after swimming and floating about on the lovely pool, while the men of our party barbecued and we produced platters of locally produced fresh salads, fruit and vegetables and supping the divine Rioja!
The Casa was well equipped and very comfortable, I loved the contemporary Spanish design and lightness. I also appreciated that the kitchen was not tucked away and not only could you chat to anyone inside you also had a view to the pool, terrace and stunning mountains beyond. The teenagers in our party enjoyed Internet access and the pool table as well as hours swimming.
The house keeper, Rachel, was more than helpful as was the owner.
We loved the local goats and the tinkering of their bells on the mountainside as the bar opened and we gathered for our evening on the terrace.
We will definitely be back ...........

Outstanding villa in an amazing setting
The 9k drive up the ever winding mountain was well worth it! The villa is situated in an idillic location with stunning views. The exterior has a wonderful pool, driveway for 2 cars and is incredibly neat and tidy. The interior is very clean and modern with a Spanish feel, spacious and homely. The owner Michael was incredibly helpful when booking and his assistant in Spain equally as helpful. The sun rests on the property all day with the opportunity to watch it set behind a nearby mountain by the pool. The nearby village is easy to get to and is very handy for small items such as bread and snacks. The local restaurants are good particularly La Sociadad which has a wonderful small seating area to the rear situated in the cobbled streets serving traditional Spanish food.
We would highly recommend this property to anyone, couples, families etc would love it here. We can't wait to book for next year!

A perfect luxury home away from home
We had a wonderful stay with two families in this luxury villa with stunning views, lovely pool, perfect terraces. The house has a good airy and comfortabel feel to it with a well equipped kitchen and nicely airconditioned bedrooms and living room. We had two teenagers with us who are sometimes hard to please but the enjoyed this holidayhouse even more than the week before along the coast, Having Wifi and a good size pool helped. The terrace with barbecue and stylish outside furniture are perfect.
The mountains and goats passing the house made us feel we were part of nature and the drive up to the house is very worthwile. This part of Andalucia is absolutely lovely especially in a house such as this Casa. We are thinking about renting it again, something we are not used to doing because we like to be suprised but because of the comfort and holidayfeel we are considering it.
We found the typical Andalucian white villages very worth visiting and
were suprised that it was al in very easy reach, the beach is about 25 to 30 minutes drive and because the way down or up the hills are part of a national parc we very much enjoyed the drive.
We played biljartpool, watched a Dvd and made use of the books available about Spain and Andalucië.

Beautiful getaway with stunning scenery
Magnificent!! what more can I say. Right from the work go the owner was very helpful and courteous, seeing that we had all the correct information. We received a useful welcome pack that had clear and concise directions. There was also an option for a food package which was ready and waiting for us at the villa. It only took us 50 minutes from the airport and after navigating the windy Spanish roads we approached "Casa Estella".
Wow!! Me and my partner were both stunned by the beautiful views of the mountains and lakes, with the villa situated in a wonderful location. We went inside and things only got better, we were greeted with a spacious and contemporary living area (which remained remarkably cool, even when it was 38C outside!!), the bedrooms were clean and tidy with some well designed features. We ate on the outside eating area most nights and had a great view of the setting sun as it drops behind the Spanish mountains.
We spent most of our time outside relaxing under the perfectly blue sky or swimming in the crystal clear pool. The local village was just a short walk away, with its quaint narrow streets and open village square. Which had orange trees ripe for the plucking!!
All in all it was the best holiday either of us have been on and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone

A Wonderful part of Spain
It was the first time we had been to this part of Spain and it definately will not be our last. The views are fantastic and the people in the local village of Canillas de Aceituno so helpful and the restaurants well recommended.
The villa was lovely, a beautiful pool and the ice machine welcomed as the weather was very hot! The villa centres around the pool area which we spent many a day lounging around and enjoyed our BBQ's and relaxing on the patio at night. The Welcome Pack was great and Rachel very helpful indeed buying us extra as we had a late arrival.
We had a wonderful holiday and wished we had longer to stay at this beautiful villa. We shall definately return.
