This was a charming cabin with kitchenette, comfortable bed, and nestled in the woods next to the lake with a fishing and swimming dock, and lots of water activities available. Loved it. We will return.
Love the setting and mixture of modern with honoring the past. Everything was clean and provided complete kitchens and bathrooms. Would highly recommend it to family and friends.
This place was perfect. Exactly what we wanted, stayed in cabin 8. It was very clean and organized when we arrived. No bugs inside, room wasn’t hot. The site was very peaceful and in a beautiful location. Everything was excellent, I will be returning in the future for sure.
Our unit #6 was just remodeled, and very new. Fully stocked kitchen was great for preparing meals. Our host was readily available to help with any wants. The kayaks and paddleboards were the cheapest to rent in the area and super accessible on property by the water.

Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
We went to shower the night we arrived after a long motorcycle ride and the water plain stunk. Whatever caused this is unknown to us but it was simply disgusting. I will never stay at this property again.

Disliked: Cleanliness
Good and Bad
Pros: The cabin is cute and partially remodeled. The view of the lake is great and appreciated the lake access and deck on the cabin. The area is quite and quaint. We stayed in Cabin #6. Our family of 3 stayed 2 nights.
The floors, linens, and bedding seemed clean.
Cons: Cabin #6 sleeps up to 8. The bathroom is very small. We had to sit on the toilet sideways. The bathroom sink is extra small. The shower is small.
The water heater didn't work during our stay. We learned this at about 9:00pm when going to take an evening shower after being out and about all day. Called to report the issue and was told "It's 9:00pm. There's nothing we can do about it."
Cleanliness: The cups and drinking glasses still had greasy fingerprints and coffee dribbles on them from the prior guests. The coffee pot had water and mold in the reservoir. It obviously hadn't been checked/cleaned for a very long time.
The cooking utensils had stuff on them from prior guests.
The walls in the kitchen and bathroom had smears and bug guts on them. When reporting the issue, the response was the cleaning service was training a new person. We'll let them know.
There's little to no space for gear unless you have a small party and use the extra beds for gear storage.
Per my request, Niangua Hills DID waive the normal cleaning charge for the cabin and said they'd fix the water heater which is good for the next guest not so much for us. We probably won't return.
