Location wonderful, staff friendly and helpful. Food great. Expensive accommodation and food but seems nothing apart from scenery and fresh air in Maine is economically friendly.,
An absolutely delightful stay — the quintessential Maine experience. Nestled right on the water, it’s perfect for morning strolls with a coffee in hand, soaking in the serene coastal views. And when it’s time to dine, you’re just steps away from fantastic restaurants and bars that showcase the best of local flavor.
Incredibly peaceful waterfront spot with heavenly views, walking trails, kayaks to rent and a restaurant to die for yum! Room was very clean and comfortable with many thoughtful amenities. Great launching spot for day trips around the area. Highly recommend we will be back!

We had a very relaxing time by the coast .
Food was excellent . Hiking and swimming
We loved so many things about this spot! The included breakfast was excellent and the views from the property are stunning. Make sure to walk across the causeway to Clark Island for an easy hike. The onsite restaurant was also very good and especially convenient though Rockland is only ~20 minutes away. Free EV charging was a bonus!
Only callout I would make is that we were woken up both nights ~2am due to loud guests in the hall - a surprise given the area is generally very quiet!
Delightful, historical inn right next to Clark Island Preserve. Lovely wee walks on the shore and to the old quarry. Minimal light pollution at night allows for terrific stargazing. Rooms are on the small side, but thoughtfully designed. Included breakfast was delicious, with fresh made biscuits and a nice selection of offerings. Only slight negative is the slow WiFi, but maybe it's okay to take a break from streaming and read a book!
I loved the Craignair Inn, and walking the trails on Clark Island. It was quiet once the group of very loud women left.
The food was spectacular, as was my room, with water views out of all three windows.
The owners, and all the staff were extremely friendly, and helpful. I would definitely go back!
Located far down the peninsula from Rockland at Spruce Head, Craignair Inn boasts panoramic views and oceanfront dining. Our room, one of 16, was on the third floor and nicely remodeled. There is no elevator and the stairs are steep; but assistance with our luggage was offered. The inn also contains the Causeway restaurant serving casually elegant dinners. Our meals were memorable. We would definitely come back on future trips.
Greg and Lauren are amazing, you can tell they really care about their inn & restaurant. Lauren's customer service from start to finish was great, Greg's knowledge on his food and drinks menu was great. The location was amazing, we had a view of the bay and could hear the crashing waves at night, which was so therapeutic. Only downside was because it was an abnormally hot day during our stay, things got a little hot in the rooms since there is not a/c, but otherwise things were great. Food at the restaurant is delicious, please make a reservation if you're staying here, you will not regret it. Would definitely recommend and stay here again if we're ever in the area.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Beautiful artwork and surroundings. Air conditioner would not work. Rustic and comfortable (except for air). Inn keepers very helpful and friendly. Proximity to Rockland very useful.
No TVs, no alarm clocks, no microwaves, no mini fridge = No superfluous stuff cluttering up the room with noise and light! Light, in fact, was my only real issue because it's an old inn and the door to our room had a gap at the top so when the motion sensor hall light came on (and stayed on for a long time) after anyone came upstairs, it was pretty bright. However, I pack a sleep mask because most places have an obnoxious amount of tech-related lights, so not a big deal. Still, this was by far the coziest, quietest, comfiest place we've stayed maybe ever. LOVED the spectacular view from our room (St George) and from the dining area. REALLY LOVED that we could walk across the causeway and take in the surroundings/stretch our legs without needing a car. Came at the wrong time of year to have dinner there, but greatly appreciated that the website and room guides listed lots of other options (mostly in Rockland, which is an easy trip with other fun stops along the way.) Breakfast was lovely. I've never liked grits in my life, but lemon and thyme do something magical for them. And the Craignair did something magical for us. I miss it already! THANK YOU!!
Room was clean and the staff was outstanding. The on property restaurant was outstanding. The breakfast was excellent. Would definitely go back! Thank You
We had a wonderful time vacationing at The Craignair Inn. The inn is beautifully located, very relaxing and convenient to town, seaports and restaurants. The Causeway restaurant was fabulous. The inn is dog friendly too. We would likely recommend staying at The Craignair Inn.
First time staying and it was so serene and beautiful. It was like living in a landscape painting. It f you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle I highly recommend it.
The location us very pretty, but also very isolated. Our room was very small. There are outdoor activities, but inside the "public" rooms are used by the restaurant most of the time. Staff was pleasant.
We had a wonderful visit. The food and room were great and the owners and staff were friendly and responsive. Had a great massage. Also the setting is absolutely glorious right on the Maine coast. The fact that the Clark Island preserve with its beautiful hiking trails was a big plus. Also the Inn is very close to Rockland and half an hour to Camden.
The inn is a unique place, in a pleasant way. The owners are wonderful at making you feel at home in their establishment. It's homey with its small, clean rooms. Our room had a private bathroom and a beautiful view. The breakfast was delicious, everything is made from scratch, the ingredients are obviously fresh and locally sourced (I had forgotten what real eggs taste like). The dinner at the restaurant below was also memorable. We highly recommend this place.
Awesome place! Older Inn on the coast of Maine with a restaurant downstairs overlooking the ocean with amazing food! Wonderful owners that hardworking to make your stay enjoyable!
