Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Calvisi?
The best area to stay in Calvisi for most travellers is the historic centre, known locally as "Centro Storico."

This area is the heart of Calvisi, characterized by its narrow, winding cobblestone streets and traditional Calabrian architecture. You'll find a selection of boutique hotels and guesthouses located among local shops, trattorias, and cafes. The main piazza, Piazza del Popolo, is a central gathering spot, often hosting local events, and the Calvisi Cathedral is a prominent landmark here.

For couples seeking a romantic and authentic experience, the Centro Storico is an excellent choice. It offers a relaxed pace, with opportunities for leisurely strolls, enjoying aperitifs at a street-side cafe, and dining at family-run restaurants. The evenings here are particularly pleasant, with the soft glow of streetlights illuminating the ancient buildings.

Families might also find the Centro Storico appealing due to its pedestrian-friendly nature and the proximity to local amenities. Children can enjoy the open space of Piazza del Popolo, and the central location means many attractions are within easy walking distance, reducing the need for constant travel.

For those prioritising direct access to the sea and a more resort-like feel, the Lungomare area, just a short distance from the Centro Storico, offers hotels with sea views and proximity to the beach.
When is the best time to go to Calvisi?
The best time to go to Calvisi, Calabria, Italy is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, or September, when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are smaller.

These months offer warm, sunny days great for exploring the region's beaches and historical sites without the intense heat and larger crowds of July and August. You'll find the sea warm enough for swimming and the local restaurants and attractions fully open. The period is ideal for couples seeking a relaxed holiday with opportunities for sightseeing and enjoying the local cuisine.

Families might also find these times appealing, as the beaches are less crowded, making for a more enjoyable experience with children.
