We loved our stay at Casa Kaan. Each unit is surrounded by tropical plants and mostly the only sounds one hears are the birds and howler monkeys in the evening and in the morning. We heard the howler monkeys and saw a lot of birds, which is exactly the experience we wanted. The unit we were in was excellent with a good bed. The staff was friendly and helpful. We booked a tour to the ancient Mayan site of Calakmul through the hotel and it was incredible. The breakfasts were good and the restaurant serves up a limited, but delicious menu. We would definitely stay here again.
The staff was excellent and friendly and our casita (Colibri) was spotless. We stayed 4 nights here as our base to explore Mayan ruins as well as flora and fauna in the Calakmul Biosphere region. We’re happy we did. The food was great and they will prepare a nice box lunch if requested.
This property was very quiet, close to Kalakmal and close to Becan ruins. We took a tour to Kalakmal from the property. The property was clean and very affordable.

Casa Kaan is amazing, a truly relaxing and peaceful oasis and perfect access to Calakmul and other activities in the area. Our house was clean and comfortable and their restaurant is excellent as well. So glad we stayed here instead of chaotic Xpujil, highly recommend!!
Nice clean cabanas, lovely forest surrounding. Great staff, very helpful. Second visit here this time restaurant not as good and found bathroom very small. Signs for lodge nonexistant if heading west
Everything is lovely about this location, the staff, the food, the location, the suite itself. The only minor thing to keep in mind will be the fact that there will be bugs crawling around the area, since you are in the middle of the jungle. They give you a bug spray but it doesn't keep them away for long. Not a complaint at all, just a note for people with bug phobia to keep in mind. Otherwise I will definitely go back.
Also please note that Calakmul is current closed on Monday's, so if thats the purpose of you trip. Keep it in mind.
The biggest issue was with the shower. The water was cold, and the pressure was so low that it was just dribbling out of the showerhead. Showering was difficult.
Also, our room had many bugs (mosquitoes, grasshoppers, etc.). I let the front desk know, but they suggested we deal with it ourselves, which was a bit surprising. The worst part was the front desk started insulting us in Spanish after our requests (I presume they thought we didn’t understand Spanish).
I would not recommend this hotel.

Expect the jungle
This hotel was interesting. It's only 4 casitas and they are really cute. The staff was very friendly and also ran the Calakmul tour we went on. It is important to know that you are in the jungle. There were some bugs that got into the room so we used the mosquito net and extra hammock to block the bottom of the doors so they couldn't get in. The second night, we ended up with two mice in the room. After some squealing (from both me and the mice), we were able to get them out and then block the doors again. After that it was all good. The only complaint really was that the shower only had hot and hotter. There was no cold except dribbles out of the shower head. I will say that they made a delicious breakfast. Someone comes to your room through an external door and makes it for you. That was definitely a perk. Knowing what we know, we would probably try a different hotel rather than returning to this one but it wasn't horrible and definitely wouldn't avoid it.
