My wife had a colectomy operation for bowel cancer on the 4th July and it was successful. The trip to Scotland was booked to allow her some time to rest and relax afterwards. She is 79 and also has dementia so we took her carer with us. The cottage was really nice. Everything needed was there and was of good quality. It would be difficult to fault it.We took food for the wildlife and the number and variety of birds was amazing. We struggled to find any other wildlife though. No squirrels, no deer, not even a rabbit or hedgehog. The last two days were unpleasant because we got swarms of midges everywhere. We kept the doors and windows closed as much as possible but they managed to get in the house somehow. My wife's face was covered in bites and she had a bad reaction to them. The swelling is starting to go down now (3 days later) Those midges are crafty - they left us alone for the first four days and then attacked in force. :-)We took food for the wildlife but ended up BEING food for the midges!Would we go there again? Probably not - but not because of any fault with the cottage - we like to try different places- but if we did go back it would definitely NOT be in the midge season. It ruined the holiday.
