As far as hostels go this is great - the rooms are in good condition and the property was well maintained. We didn’t sleep well due to the noise from other guests, but that's to be expected in a hostel and isn't the fault of the staff. £150 a night for a triple room is a bit steep for what you get.
A lovely place to stay for a short break. A lovely well equipped kitchen aas available so you can cook and reheat any food. A small request would to be to have salt and pepper available in the kitchen. The key lock was not so obvious to us , fortunately another person atsying at the accommodation pointed it out to us.
On our second day, a group of 4 adults and 2 children arrived and they were quite noisy until about 1 am. This was through no fault of the vendor as they have signs up for people to be quiet during evening and night. This was the only down point of the stay.
Our overall experience was very good. However on three separate occasions we were awoken by other inconsiderate guests despite the signage asking people to be quiet at certain times. This meant we had to get out of bed in the middle of the night to ask people to be quiet. We understand this isn’t a fault of the hostel but thought we would mention it and suggest maybe a bit more clear signage or make it more clear to people when they check in.
Other than this we have no complaints and the place is great, would highly recommend if you are climbing snowdon as it’s not too far to drive, has good facilities and is near a town with supermarkets and restaurants.
The area is beautiful but the place no longer looks like on the pictures. Paint is peeling off in places, loosing a battle to mould.
The kitchen was clean and the shower was nice, but what shocked us was that the beds were not changed after previous guests. There were food crumbs and hair on sheets that were creased and stained. I wrote to the numbers given as contacts but received no reply. It's a shame.
We booked very early and arrived later than expected!
However the staff were very helpful and we were in the property in a short time.
The accommodation was very clean and the facilities were perfect for our needs.
Local walks in every direction with stunning views.
Close to all the main areas of interest for Snowdonia and North Wales.
Having a shop on site is so useful for fresh milk etc.
Would not hesitate to use this locality again as it is central to all our areas of interest.
We really enjoyed our stay, family of 5 plus dog. The manager Shon, was really helpful and knowledgeable about the area, being a born and bred local. He explained the history of the centre and its importance to the local community, helping to keep services in the village including the local shop. We travelled in our electric car and it was such a nice surprise to learn there were 4 EV chargers on site, that were free to use, and entirely powered by the solar panels on the roof. They were plenty fast enough for an overnight charge for more exploring in the mou twins the next day. If you are expecting a luxury hotel then the Llety at Canolfan Y Fron is probably not for you but if you are after a small, clean, hostel as a base to explore the fantastic surroundings then you could do a lot worse!
Pleasant stay - more upmarket than a regular hostel and nice that it was a small property. Appreciated that in the shared kitchen, each room has their own separate cupboard with crockery, cutlery etc. Had a problem with my room key which was quickly rectified without any fuss, however it was out of hours so I recommend making a note of the emergency number before leaving the room!
Wet room was nice but the floor took ages to dry despite the squeegee so recommend planning your shower carefully unless you don't mind wet feet when going to the toilet! (Or keep your shoes on).
Good number of picnic benches to sit and eat outside if you want to.
Plenty of car parking.
