The property is absolutely beautiful. The house was welcoming and well kept. Even with a little guy, it was relaxing and rejuvenating. Being on the river was breath taking and made for some incredible sunset watching! We truly enjoyed our time and hope to visit again in the future!

Great place to stay in Maine

Secluded enough to not see anyone but also close enough to Portland to go and get a good meal. Having a spot on the river was great too.

Stille Wasser Stay

It was clean, comfortable and very close to family where we spent most of the time for Thanksgiving. This a great place for a larger group, very pretty and open.

A relaxing and peaceful stay

Still Wasser is an excellent place to relax and get away from it all. Well appointed and very comfortable it has everything you need. Would highly recommend.

Quiet Cabin in a beautiful location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at stille washer. This cabin is nestled in the woods right on the Saco river. This area is very still so in made for great swimming and floating. The location is within 30 minutes to beaches and Portland. Lots to do around the area. The cabin is gorgeous and Barry was a lovely host.

Quiet getaway

The property was tucked away in the woods which gave us the quiet getaway we desired. But was close to Portland where we visited great restaurants, entertainment and shopping. We also enjoyed hikes and the local orchards. A wonderful trip would highly recommend this location!!!

Location Relaxation

The week was perfect weather-wise and gave opportunities to explore the river and area. Barry’s quick responses to questions or direction as I used the wrong door in my initial attempt to get in steered me to the right door. The house was the poster location fir remote relaxation and getaway from technology and a breather from everyday life. Highly suggest a stay.

Maine Experience

Loved the place, very cool and unique. Loved sitting by the fire and walking to the river. Had everything we needed. Was off the beaten path but we really liked that. The owner was amazing and responded to any questions promptly. Had everything we needed for our family trip!

Serenity in the woods

My son and I loved our stay at this beautiful home, so much so that my son has ideas of building one similar to the layout to this beautiful home of Barry’s. Our dog loved going for walks up and down the driveway with his dad. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet location to unwind.

Amazing home in the woods

What a wonderful stay ! The home is well equipped and very comfortable ! Went on walking trails - all within 30 minutes from the house- the river and sunset on the dock were amazing ! Prettiest sunsets I’ve ever seen / the colors were so vibrant . The only negative of the entire stay was the screened in porch smelled terribly of cats - we couldn’t use it - but we just kept the door shut and used the rest of the house !! We will definitely be back !!

Great time away

We absolutely loved this property! It was very clean dispite some other reviews. Very quiet and tucked away. We were at peace the whole trip! The entryway does have a lip to it but as soon as you realize walking around it becomes second nature. Beautiful house, beautiful property, beautiful lake. It was the perfect location for our honeymoon and very greatful pets are allowed. The 2 dogs and us had a great time! Beautiful area. We found a lot of nice driving locations through limerick. Barry is a great property owner. He got back to us very quickly even though it was a very awkward time to call someone. Thank you for our great stay!!

Positives - The setting was peaceful. The river was peaceful. House design & construction amazing. High end appliances. Negatives - photos are old & misleading. The written description misleading. The lighting was less than stellar, very dim...had to go out to Walmart and buy a reading lamp. The Glass Room was unusable due to strong musty odor. The TV was 9' high in the air. It took 7 hours to dry a medium size load of wash. We were not tempted to use the outdoor gas grill as it did not appear to be cleaned in a "long" time. The path way to the water was Steep! The path way to the the dock area was over grown and surrounding the dock was fallen limbs, trees & debris making it difficult to launch the kayak & inflatable boat which we did bring down the hill. Spent time cleaning up the debris in & out of the water around the dock. The aluminum canoe that was there did not look at all to be water worthy. Did not see the boat lift option. Bringing the kayak & inflatable back up the hill was not for the faint of heart. Regarding communication with the host, there was no response to an email that was sent to him asking if a "veteran's discount" available. There was no emergency contact information/telephone numbers to call should a plumbing, heating, electrical, etc. emergency event occur. ** Please call before posting feedback. Never have given any "feedback" before but felt compelled for this stay. We do have photos if needed. Thank you.

Peace and Quiet in Unique Property

We had a really good stay at Stille Wasser. Kitchen is nicely appointed with high end appliances, and since my husband and I like to cook, we really enjoyed these upgrades. Bed is comfortable and there are plenty of extra linens. That said, we agree with other reviewers regarding lots of cobwebs throughout the house and the tripping hazards in the entryway and front stairs. Setting is peaceful and quiet. It rained during our stay so we didn't get to experience the river. Barry is a 5 star host!! Communication was excellent.

Some quirks to keep in mind…. The walk to the dock is a hike but we enjoyed it.. it is very dusty so if you have an allergy just beware.. listen to the property owner.. do not leave doors open or open the windows. The entire house stays at a comfortable temp! The shower is small.. and keep in mind there is no tub.. (my son missed that) the home is beautiful and equipped with all you need.. everything is about 15 mins away which we enjoyed being so far out in the woods.. bring bug spray! You will need it..

Welcoming home away from home

The house was very comfortable for the four of us. Nice location for points south and more northern while feeling remote and private. House had great amenities. The river was calm and beautiful to be out on the canoe. Nice and cool in the hot weather. Good communication with host. I think the house would be challenging for folks with mobility issues. The water and dock are quite a steep path down through the woods. The house has multilevel flooring throughout the first floor. We weren’t there for Tv, but if you are, understand it is hung 15ft in the air above the livingroom. We loved Pacifico restaurant, Laudholm beach, Cape Elizabeth and the Prouts Neck Cliff walk. Very nice stay

We adored our cabin in the woods - highly recommend!!

Stille Wasser is a gem. It's so cool and unique and SUCH an incredible location. The kitchen was wonderful - we cooked several dinners and breakfasts there. The house was also very well stocked. I was pleasantly surprised at having been provided coffee filters, paper towels, toilet paper, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, storage bags, salt and pepper, etc. We stayed during a heat wave of 95+ temps and the house remained cool and comfortable for us. We got river floats and spent some time floating off the dock on the river. The adjustable bed was very comfortable and we had plenty of towels and washcloths (even beach towels for the river). We also enjoyed the back patio, though we did need to clean off the blue cushions a bit. The hummingbirds came to visit us frequently. I loved how remote the cabin felt, but not far from food and groceries. It was also a very easy drive to Portland about 30-40 minutes away. We drove past Two Tides seafood several times so we stopped in for live lobsters and fresh fish and clams and made those in a large pot in the well equipped kitchen. We highly recommend "garage fish" haha from Two Tides - they are so friendly, the prices are so affordable and the seafood was out of this world. We didn't use the sunroom or the bunkroom, but we did eat at the dining room table quite a few nights and mornings. Oh and the knives were actually sharp!! My husband and I had no issues with the little entryway lip, and we felt the walk to river was easy.

Perfect location

Stille Wasser did not disappoint! The location is ideally situated in a private and quiet location, but within a short drive to local attractions and shops. The private floating docks offered relaxing afternoons and beautiful sunsets.

Our family of five really enjoyed our time out in the woods. The home is a unique labor of love with lots of interesting designs. The kids especially enjoyed the trail down to the dock. I loved all the fireflies in the evening. The house is stocked with everything you could need and an abundance of towels and bedding. This place was convenient for our baseball tournament in the Old Orchard Beach area.
