Pioneer Peak is the star of the show on any visit around Palmer, Alaska. This was shot just after sunset on an early fall hike up Bodenburg Butte. There are two access points from which to park and hike the butte; one for experienced hikers (next to the Reindeer Farm off of Bodenburg Loop Road), the other for everyone else (off of Mothershead Road). We always choose the latter. It has stairs!
This is one of my favorite places to take kids, family, and friends when they come for a visit. It is a truly "Alaska" experience to be able to wander among and feed the Reindeer here. And the scenery on the way can't be beat! Landscape wise, Pioneer Peak is the star of the show on this trip along the Old Glenn Highway & Bodenburg Loop Road.

Was nice and cute place. The only thing was weather was exceptionally cold that night -30F and small heater had no chance of warming area up. Very cold. Any other time it'd been quite pleasant.
