Private Luxury Retreat Incredible Lake View 1 Mile to Watkins Glen

A perfect place for one or two couples, $275 per room per night. Spend a night, a weekend or a week at one of the most unique properties in all of the Finger Lakes. Clifftop is a 20 acre paradise, with unforgettable Sunset, Seneca Lake, and village views. Perched atop a bluff and high above the lake, enjoy your very own private compound, only 1 mile from the center of Watkins Glen, at the gateway to the east Seneca Lake wine trail. Hike along thousands of feet of clifftop trails, then descend into a magnificent gorge with several waterfalls, flanked by hemlock, periwinkle, and stone formations.

Take an hour or a day; relax within this private natural paradise. Hike back up to the many cliff top nature trails and take in the bee balm, shaded canopy, and daily visits by the bald eagles and osprey that inhabit our area. Or "stay put." Kick back on the deck or lawn directly in front of your room. Sun bathe, nap, or simply enjoy the sailboats, western bluffs, and village below. The Rookery, our upper level hemlock lodge, has 2 king bedrooms(one is a suite) each with deluxe bath, including 6' soaker tub and shower. The full kitchen and entry room provide plenty of elbow room, and 3 patio doors lead to the 50' x 9' deck, located 200' above the lake, below. The large kitchen has quartz counters, all new appliances, lovely maple wood floors. Large glass fireplace. A short distance from your back door is a beautiful view area with your own under the stars fire pit.

We were traveling with friends for a long weekend in wine country. The house is near Watkins Glen and many wineries, breweries, and restaurants. The house was clean and beautiful. Both bedrooms had king beds and en suites. Every morning and evening we sat on the deck overlooking Seneca Lake. Cindy, our host, was gracious and accommodating. Would highly recommend!

Amazing Lake Views

Cindy and Ed were great host. The house and location were great. Close to activities and amazing views of Lake Seneca. Highly recommend visiting the Watkins Glen State Park which has many beautiful waterfalls and views of the gorge. We would definitely visit again.

Quiet luxury in idyllic setting -Highly Recommended

Cindy and Ed’s home was wonderfully comfortable with amazing views of Seneca Lake from the expansive deck. The Finger Lakes area is filled with unspoiled beauty including the 50+acres on which the home is located. Beautiful Property. Incredible hosts.

It's obvious that these hosts used to work in hospitality. The house is so well designed and furnished, including the kitchen for those who actually want to cook, which I did. Luxury baths, incredible view, birds, waterfalls and walking paths, gas fireplace. Very close to Watkins Glen and Seneca wine trail. There is some noise from cars going by below, but I'm super sensitive to those things and will still be going back because everything else is so amazing! - including the hosts themselves who gave me lots of privacy while being very accessible and friendly too.

Gorgeous lake view from very private property on mountainside. Well-furnished, clean, recently-updated house unit with some thoughtful gifts from hosts. Hosts were very welcoming and accommodating of our shifting check-in time, and supplied many extras. Will absolutely ask them about staying here the next time we visit the Glen, and would recommend their property to family and friends.

Always Feels Like Home

The 5th time’s the charm — just like the first four. We’ve stayed at this property more than any other rental, for many reasons: the kind, generous, incredibly thoughtful hosts, Cindy and Ed; the quiet, private location; the incredible views of Seneca Lake from the whole-house-length deck; a layout with two master suites that doesn’t waste an inch and gives you everything you need in a vacation home. Can’t recommend this house, or these lovely hosts, highly enough.

Perfect Cliffside Retreat

This property was perfect and exactly what we were looking for. We selected this property for three main reasons: separate bathrooms as we were traveling with another couple, proximity to Watkins Glen State Park and the balcony views. Everything was perfect during our stay. Cindy, the owner, was very welcoming when we arrived and even provided us with a bottle of local wine, dinner recommendations and passes to local wineries. The property itself was clean and well equipped with everything that one would need for the weekend. The views from the balcony were great and super relaxing to watch the sunset. I would definitely be back again!

Amazing Lake Views

View of the lake is amazing. However, the main road runs down the hill from the unit, so there will be traffic noise all the time. The unpaved driveway to the unit could be challenging for some vehicles. The unit is well appointed, well stocked kitchen, nice bathrooms and a comfortable bed. The couches were uncomfortable and could be updated. The owners live below the unit. Cindy and Ed were very friendly and even left some tasty local craft beer in celebration of our anniversary! We loved the area and will be back!

Amazing property with views

The property is beautiful and everything you needed was supplied. The beds were comfortable, plenty of towels and very clean. The view was amazing. I would caution the driveway is very steep and rocky, and the turn in was difficult. My only complaint was that it is not a private retreat, the owners stay in the garage and in the basement in the evenings, the spotlight comes on so enjoying that back deck is not private. There is also construction as a new house is being built. Otherwise, we were not bothered by the owners at all But it is misleading.

Always a Pleasure

This was our fourth stay at this beautiful home in the past four years, and we already can't wait for our fifth. The location is perfect: private and secluded on the clifftop, but incredibly close and convenient to everything. The house is warm, welcoming, and always immaculate, with two fabulous master suites and a spacious deck with incredible views. Most special of all, though, are Cindy and Ed, the two warmest, nicest hosts you could ever hope to have in a rental property; they're kind and responsive, always available for anything you need. I've put this in a review before, and I'll say it again: coming back to this house feels like coming home. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Lovely Lakeview Getaway

Comfortable, cosy bungalow that is exactly as described & pictured on Vrbo. The gracious, friendly owners are onsite & greeted us when we arrived & said goodbye when we departed. The bungalow features a great layout for two couples as there are two king bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, one of which has a second door to the common area. These private areas are separated by the living room, dining room, & kitchen which provides some welcome privacy. An SUV or 4-wheel drive car may be helpful accessing the property which is reached via a steep, unpaved drive. Other minor quibbles are low water pressure in the showers & uneven Wi-Fi. Overall we’d heartily recommend this listing to vacationers.

A slice of heaven on earth!

From the first contact with Cindy, I could tell we would enjoy our stay and she would be an amazing host! I was surprising my partner with a getaway for his birthday and had never been to the Finger Lakes. Cindy and Ed have a very cozy and comfortable home with everything you may need for enjoying a relaxing trip. It gives a french cottage vibe and was very clean and very “chicly” appointed. She had supplied us with a bottle of Riesling from one of the local wineries and Starbucks pods for the Keurig. There are two primary suites with very nice en-suite baths. (Both have deep soaker tubs and showers) both Cindy and her husband Ed were very respectful and responsive to any needs we had. The only thing I found issue with is that the online pics of the place don’t even come close to doing it justice. But that is probably a good thing for us, because I was able to book it with short notice😜. It was so conveniently located to the village of Watkins Glen, with the state park only being few miles away. And the drive from one end of Lake Seneca to the other was breathtakingly beautiful and only 45 mins. The wineries were amazing and the food in the area was fantastic. But at the end of the day, the views from both bedrooms and the massive deck were just amazing. I will definitely be returning and would love to see the fall foliage. Also, Cindy is very knowledgeable about the area and assisted me in dining selections/recommendations as well as helped me find a spa at Belhurst. ❤️ .
