Incomplete Roman copper alloy spoon, missing part of its handle and bowl. It is 56mm in length and the bowl 26mm in diameter (though due to damage only 24mm in max width). The damage on the bowl is quite jagged and sharp unlike the break on the handle, which is probably more ancient. The bowl has a rib running parallel to the outside edge c.3mm from it. On the reverse the handle tapers to a point on the bowl. The reverse has a small area of tinning beside the handle. Weighs 4.12g. Cf a very similar example from South Shields Roman Fort, in Allason-Jones and Miket, 1984, no.3.321.
