"Cosmic Crab was one of the most memorable places I’ve ever stayed. As a solo female traveler, I immediately felt welcomed, safe, and comfortable. The property is family-owned, and you can truly feel that in the atmosphere. The owner is incredibly kind and made me feel at ease from the moment I arrived. The overwater bungalow was a dream come true. Falling asleep to the sound of the water and waking up to beautiful views every morning never got old. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed for my stay. I also loved how walkable the area was. I enjoyed taking daily walks around Carenero, visiting nearby markets, and exploring the island. The food and drinks were fantastic, especially the Atlantis Colors cocktail and the bacon cheeseburger. The location was perfect because it felt peaceful and relaxing while still being close to everything. Honestly, I didn’t want to leave. I’ve only been home a day and I’m already looking at dates to come back. I would absolutely recommend Cosmic Crab to anyone visiting Bocas, especially solo travelers looking for a place where they’ll feel welcomed and cared for."
"The house was lovely - well built, clean and with a well equipped kitchen - which is important since you have to eat in! Jose is a wonderful cook though! The host family is very attentive and quick to respond. The reef off the deck has colorful corals, sponges, urchins and starfish among eel grass. The water is shallow off the deck (about 2 feet) so no jumping in! The water is calm at dawn and dusk, so easy to paddle around the mangroves. The view is lovely across the water. Hiking behind the house we saw howler monkeys and assorted tropical flora. If you travel in the dry season, this would be a fantastic place. We did not (late May) and thunderstorms limited the snorkeling and kayaking, and rain showers made boat trips to other spots undesirable. The house relies on solar power, and when overcast the batteries take a full day to charge, meaning that you need to be very careful and miserly with power in order to have enough to run the fans at night and make coffee in the morning. When raining the caretaker will come to run the gas generator to charge the batteries. There was never enough power available to use the washer and dryer. The no see ums are a very real issue. I wasn’t bothered by them but others were eaten alive, no matter the preventive measures (oil, coverups) taken. Lastly, like in any isolated community, getting materials to replace broken things takes time - we didn’t have a working indoor shower for our stay since they were waiting on a replacement parts."
"This was our first time living in a cottage on stilts over the crystal Caribbean and it was amazing. Beautiful sunsets off the dock down Saigon Bay each night. We brought our car but also used plentiful taxis and water taxis. The hosts are wonderful, friendly, professional but also personal. We will 100% stay here again. "
"We had an amazing time at the villas. Phillip is a great guy. If you’re prepared for your stay you may never need to see him, aside from boating his kids to school. If you stay here be prepared. Bring your own food, water, booze or whatever you need. You can always call Nino for a boat ride into town but we stayed 3 days alone and it was amazing. Best value overwater stay in Bocas del toro. Ultra clear water right off the dock. Lobster man boats by $5 Lobsters. We had some crazy Caribbean rain storms, beautiful rainbows and sunsets. Panamá is an incredibly beautiful country. "
