100 private acres of mountain splendor. You won't find anything else like it!

In the heart of North Carolina's High Country, this cabin is the perfect getaway. Located on over 100 wooded acres and surrounded by forest you'll enjoy quiet relaxation yet you'll be within 10-30 miles of area attractions. Area attractions include 6 nearby golf courses, snow skiing at Beech, Sugar, or Hawksnest Ski Resorts, antique and craft markets, fishing, hiking, gem mining, horseback riding, rodeos and more. Banner Elk, Boone, Linville Falls, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Penland School, Grandfather Mountain, and Blowing Rock are each no more than 30 miles, some much closer. For a special afternoon visit the Asheville / Black Mountain area and Biltmore Estate. The 8' wide wrap-around porch is a nice place to relax or make use of the gas grill. After dinner stroll to Plumtree, walk the surrounding woods,

We are often asked about cell coverage. Here is a response to a recent question.

'Thanks for the question. Our carrier is AT&T and about three years ago the coverage went down the tubes .  Our cousin has Carolina west and here works just fine. I have heard rumor that Verizon works but I can't verify that. There is a standard landline that you can receive calls with or use a calling card to call out. There is also wifi for Skype or FaceTime or imessage  There are pockets on the way to Spruce Pine and Newland where texts and Voicemails will come through. The bottom line is that it can be inconvenient but is no different at our cabin than anywhere else in the region. It is the nature of the topography. It is not something that we get complaints about.  Don't hesitate if you have other questions.'

Wonderful Isolation
I read all the reviews for this cabin and it was exactly as described. Very private and quiet. My husband, myself and our dog enjoyed ourselves very much. I was a little worried about the bathroom because of some of the reviews but we had no complaints at all. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We had a dozen deer come up graze one evening and it was a special treat for us. Kate communicated with us through out our trip and answered all our questions very quickly. If you are looking for a get away from your everyday life this is your place. Thanks Kate for allowing us to stay in your home.

Nice place. Quiet and secluded.
We have stayed here several times and like the property and area because of its privacy and quiet. The deck is fantastic. The open living room area and kitchen are very nice. There are a couple of issues. The bedroom is in a loft up some fairly steep stairs. There is no bathroom up there. The bathroom downstairs is a bit cramped and the tub is a little high. Both would be a real hassle for someone with disabilities. Wi-Fi service is really slow. Don't bother with trying stream video. No local channels on Television (Dish Network) The deck is really nice though and we spend most of our time out there. We had an incident on our last trip (our fault) that required extra cleaning. I wish a little more time had been given for us to respond as my wife was having issues logging in on the VRBO app on her phone and I was not at my computer before being able to respond to the host. We really do like the cabin and hope that this visit does not leave a bad taste for both us and the owner.

Refreshing Getaway
We enjoyed an extremely peaceful stay in this cozy, rustic cabin. The location is tranquil and secluded, yet it is close enough to area towns for day trips and essentials.

Not as advertised
This cabin in the woods was not what was advertised. It was supposed to be on 100 acres, yet you could see a mobil home from the front porch. There were supposed to be mountain views. There was no mountain views. There was supposed to be a trout stream. It was not near cabin, but next to a buzy road. The furniture was old. Miss matched not comfortable. You had to go upstairs and sit on the bed to watch tv. We could not open the cover on the fireplace. But the worst part of all was the bathroom. It was very narrow. The toilet was between to walls and you could move at all when sitting on the toilet. There was a large deep tub that you had to lift your leg up and into, with no safety bars. At the sink there was no where to lay anything while getting ready. Same in the tub, shower. Nowhere to even lay a bar of soap. We had booked this cabin for 1 week but after 4 nights we packed up and moved to better accommodations. I do not recommend this place.

Amazing
This property is amazing. You are away from everything. Its super quite and beautiful. We loved staying in this truly postcard like oasis. This property is still close enough to enjoy the Blue Ridge Parkway and close enough to stores. We loved our stay !
