Custom Lindal home built in 2006, located on 18 pristine acres in the mountain residential community of Wilderness Ranch, just northeast of Boise off of Highway 21 on the way to historic Idaho City. Spectacular views of the entire river valley and unparalleled opportunities to see a wide variety of wildlife, including deer, elk, fox and black bears. A redwood deck running along the entire back of the house offers views of the surrounding wilderness from a variety of vantage points.
Inside enjoy central air conditioning or a wood-burning fireplace (depending on the season, of course!), a 42-inch plasma television with basic DirecTV subscription, a VCR/DVD player, an Alexa smart speaker and a collection of board games. Wireless internet is available.
The kitchen is out-fitted with top-of-the-line GE appliances, including a Monogram double oven, a Profile gas stove and a side-by-side refrigerator with ice and water in the door. It is also fully stocked with all the dishes, flatware, pots, pans, appliances and cooking utensils needed to prepare and serve any meal. A counter-high hard-wood dining table provides seating for up to six.
Sleeping accommodation includes a cathedral ceiling master bedroom with access to the deck and a king-size Simmons ComforPedic bed. The master bath has a soaking bath tub with a large picture window providing a great view of the wilderness as well as a separate large shower made from rock slate. The second bedroom features two high-quality twin beds and a full-size futon bed with ensuite bathroom. The third bedroom doubles as an office, with a twin-size day bed. A light-weight twin-size roll-away bed is also available, allowing a total of seven to be accommodated comfortably.
Wilderness Ranch has privately maintained dirt roads and the road leading to the house is narrow and steep in some places. While a two-wheel drive vehicle is fine for accessing the house most of the year, we highly recommend a four-wheel drive vehicle with studded snow tires and/or chains during the months when there is likely to be significant snow on the mountain (November through March). There can be significant climatic differences between Boise and Wilderness Ranch. Even when there is no snow on the ground in Boise, the roads at the ranch can be snow covered and icy. Also during periods of heavy rain (spring and fall), the roads can become muddy and difficult to transverse.
Beware that cellphone coverage at the ranch is spotty or not available at all. However the house does have a landline phone.
Final note: The map may show Bogus Basin ski area as close-by, but those roads are not open in winter. To get to Bogus Basin, you need to drive into Boise and then back out. Trip takes about 90 minutes.
