I thought Nadia, the host was very nice. The place is beautiful. I love the relaxing sounds of the waves and she was very nice. There was a problem with one of the rooms and she didn't charge us for the inconvenience of that room. That is a good host. Had a great time in this beautiful island.

Exceeded expectations
The reviews hold true we had a perfect stay, and Nadia and Salvatore made it so. Tons of space in the 2br apartment, sloth hanging in the tree, and the food made up in the kitchen was top notch. Would love to stay there again.

The property is misrepresented on Expedia, this is NOT part of the Tesoro Hotel, and is seperate management from the hotel altogether. It is in fact a 10 minute walk to the hotel and it's private beaches and restaurant, and you can't just rock up to the hotel, you have to make a reservation. The guest house is very run down, the fotos are clearly taken a long time ago and are heavily edited. The kitchen is underwhelming, with little to no tools. Dirty old pans, no glasses to drink out of. I am extremely surprised to see a 4.7 rating, although this is based on reviews pre-pandemic. The whole place is falling apart, the drains overflowed, the toilet was set crooked, so you are tilting heavily to the left side. There is NO privacy whatsoever as the ceiling is open, there are flimsy divisions between the 'rooms', you can hear absolutely everything. The journey back and forth to this spot is treacherous, extremely bumpy unpaved road. If you are going to want to eat out, you are 30 minutes walk away from the nearest places, also 30 minutes outside of town by taxi ($15 each way). Loads of mosquitos in the morning and evening, and bats flying through the gaps in the ceiling. Not for people that want any degree of comfort - more like a run down hostel, but at luxury hotel prices. Traveler beware!

Dear Paul We find your review totally disingenuous. After you arrived and went into the apartment, you told us that the place was not what you were expecting and we offered a 50% reimbursement even though you had a non refundable booking. Then, instead of talking to us, you contacted Expedia to cancel. We then went into a 4-way communication for a couple of hours, when it would have been so much more simple and civilized to talk face to face. Since you had a non-refundable reservation, we offered, via Expedia, to only charge 50 percent. At which point you sent various threats, which we have in writing since you still refused to talk face to face and only communicated with us through whatsapp. At that point we realized, this was going to not be a good situation, and very nicely informed you could leave and there would be no charge. We also, kindly, offered to help you find a place more to your liking, as we wouldn't want you to feel forced to stay where you wouldn't enjoy your accommodation. Yet, after the threats and accusing us of all sorts of misdeeds such as false advertising, you decided to stay and subsequently write a really unfair review, but only after blaming (as you said in a message) your secretary who made a mistake when booking. When you finally came downstairs and speak with us, we explained to you, there is a Tesoro escondido lodge and cabinas and a Tesoro escondido guesthouse, 5 minute walk away from each other. They also have completely different listings online. At any rate, you willingly chose to stay, after you had several hours to inspect every corner of the apartment. Apartment we might add, that is on the top floor, and the only accomodation there. We are a rustic place, we do not hide that, it is advertised and it is the first line on the email we send to new reservations. While most people deplore the loss of historical Caribbean architecture on this island, much replaced by soul less cement buildings, we have put a lot of love and efforts to keep our original carbbean-style buildings up to date. That you would not be appreciative of traditional wooden floors and caribbean style architecture does not mean that the place is falling apart. The drain on your shower had a small blockage, which we fixed in no time once you reported the issue to us. The place is not perfect and is off the grid, in the jungle amongst nature, which we also advertise, and definitely take into consideration when we priced our rentals. I don’t think that any luxury hotel would charge you 40usd per person for a private apartment with sweeping sea view. The drinking glasses you mentioned not finding were right next to the coffee cups you used, so we do not understand how you could not see them. Certainly a brief communication with your host would have cleared that up. Our pans are not new, but neither are they dirty or in bad shape. To avoid other hosts the same experience we had with you, I would strongly suggest you review more closely the re

Remote, tranquil, amazing
Remote, tranquil, ecolodge. I loved it! Just a couple heads up for those staying at the guest house vs the lodge. It is about a .3mile walk down the dirt road from the main lodge. Will need to walk to lodge for breakfast and dinner. I enjoyed the walk but it can be very dark at dinner time. Nadia was very helpful in arranging taxis, etc. I did have a private bathroom but it was across the hall from my room. Not sure if that is the case with all the rooms or just mine. The private balcony was amazing and I spent most of my time there. Internet worked well also.

This is the coolest place I have ever stayed! Basically a super cool surf shack. Nadia is a very good Italian cook. This is not for everyone. No air conditioning, but we didn’t need it. Open so the ocean breeze blows through. Far enough away from town to feel peaceful. Absolutely incredible view! Sound of surf put me to sleep every night.

pleasant stay
I stayed 2 nights with my partner and I must say that the location and surrounding was wonderful .The house had artistic touch but not modern . My concern was the restriction on the usage of water and the insects as it was in natural area by the water .There were lots of cats in the house. The public transport was not frequent or reliable and had to take taxis costing 15-20 dollar each way during the day and 25 at night.

Thanks for your feedback. As explained in the description we are an eco lodge in the middle of the jungle so it is normal that there is some insect around and being eco we only collect rain water and use solar panels so we always ask our guests to not waste water and electricity Yes we have cats but only two and not as many as you wrote. About public transpot there are two buses that from the town come here in bluff beach every 45 minutes from 7 in the morning until 6.30 in the afternoon. The normal taxi fare is 15 usd and at night is 20. Thanks

Hidden Treat
The hotel is very isolated, more than I expected. A long walk to the next hotel/restaurant. The beach at Playa Bluff was very picturesque, but rough for swimming. Quite a lot of wildlife in the area, I saw a snake, howler monkeys, pelicans, a few raptors, so that was a bonus. The hotel was fine, good for a short stay, I think it might become a bit claustrophobic after a few days.

Lovely place right in the jungle.
Only a 10 minute walk to the beach. I loved being in the jungle and not right in town. Sleeping in the sounds of the jungle was an amazing experience.
