"Warm, friendly staff and beautifully landscaped layout with multiple structures around a central pool and open-air restaurant and bar. We enjoyed swimming daily, dining at the restaurant multiple nights and walking down the hill to the beach that was quiet and perfect for us. If we are ever in this area again, we would return here because of the excellent service. If you end up staying elsewhere in the area, we noticed many couples came up just to enjoy the restaurant also. "

"Coco Flotante is an iconic and idyllic beach house that made touchstone memories for my family of 5. The house itself is very large and has great indoor and outdoor spaces to spend time as a group or alone. Big, covered patios with dining and lounging areas, all with views, a huge kitchen and bedroom suites all with AC.The house caretakers and manager are friendly if you want to engage or have a request, and otherwise just make sure everything is good. During our stay, they cleaned the house and pool daily and helped with our needs and questions. Georgina helped us get to a turtle release at the beach that was unforgettable.The views from the house and property are incredible, across the Pacific, up the coast, and with no other people or houses in sight. Coconut trees, lawn, flowers, and the pool are beautiful. The beach is down a staircase, accessible and providing privacy.The beach itself has both sand and tide pools. We were able to walk down the beach to the end of Junquillal and back, a little under 3.5 miles (5.5 km). The closest store was fine for our needs, but lacking in much fresh produce. Plenty of other options within a short drive and also restaurants you can walk or drive to.Wildlife was a nice surprise for us. We saw iguanas, colorful birds, hermit crabs rolling in their shells down toward the beach, and Howler monkeys (Congos) walking through the trees in the evening."

"Our family of 12 had an amazing vacation here! We had six adults, two teenagers, and children from infant all the way to eight years old. Clean, comfortable, and beautiful home! The four master bedrooms with king size beds, and private bathrooms made for a wonderful and relaxing time together, with space to spread out and have some privacy as well. The kids room with several sleeping areas and their own bathroom as well, and was wonderful. The host provided us with a pack and play, high chair, and beach toys for little ones. The kitchen is well appointed, and the ice machine was a huge plus! The lovely private beach was a favorite gathering place, and the host provides beach chairs for use as well as towels. The real highlight for us was the large pool with waterslide and waterfall. One end is perfect for little ones to play and splash in a shallow area, while the big kids and adults loved the large lap pool, waterslide, and waterfall! Plenty of lounge chairs available, and pool towels as well. The security system was easy to set and disarm, but the safes didn’t work in some of the rooms. Really not a problem given the security system. Having laundry facilities was awesome, and the two kitchens and refrigerators were very convenient . Our family had the vacation of a lifetime! "

"This was easily one of the best stays we’ve ever had. Café Playa Negra is everything a boutique hotel should be—warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully run. We were greeted like family and offered lime slush drinks that were pure bliss. Our room was spotless and beautiful, the meals were delicious, and the pool was a perfect escape. Nixon was amazing—so kind and attentive, making sure everything went smoothly. This place has heart. And by staying here, you’re supporting the real people of Playa Negra—not just a vacation rental owned by investors. We felt good knowing our visit made a positive impact. We’ll definitely be back."

"Agree with most of the previous reviews but would like to add a couple things we did. We had a family of ten 6 adults, 4 teenage kids. Working with Mary Diekers, the rental property manager, we employed a ten person van and driver to pick us up at the airport. Turns out he was also an excellent daily tour guide, setting up and driving us to zip line, ATV, horse back riding, and river cruise activities. His name is Jeffery Guevara, very friendly, speaks fluent English, and was knowledgable on everything Costa Rican. We also selected to have evening chefs cook dinner for us on three occasions. This was especially helpful after returning from a busy day of activities. Highly recommend Chefs Garrett Hurley and his wife. Their food preparation was incredible, much better than any restaurant. We also rented an SUV at the airport as kind of a back up. As stated by others the property is realatively isolated with bummpy dirt roads in and out. "

"It was a delightful stay! Beautiful and quiet beach! Loved the view and access to the beach.Nice and private. Watched the gorgeous sunset every evening. AC was a plus. The hosts were very considerate and so nice. They came and got garbage and changed our sheets which was so nice. We would definitely rent this place again! Truly a Magical Place"

"Latica lodge was amazing to stay at! If you’re looking for that community vibe then this should be on the top of your list. Everyone from all over the world staying there, all having breakfast/supper together was spectular. The owners are everyday people willing to help you out with everything they made the stay so enjoyable. It’s definitely off the beaten path, I would recommend having a 4x4 vehicle to tackle the roads getting there and getting around. There’s a couple amazing beaches (best we thought on the whole west coast) super close and they are all so different. Would highly recommend staying here! Pura vida!"

"Casa Mackay is spacious, clean and beautiful. The pool and outdoor kitchen are so lovely for a day in the backyard.It is a short walk to a secluded beach. We saw some monkeys along the walk :)Gabby responded very quickly to any questions we had. The house is well stocked. They had a cooler bag and chairs To take to the beach. Lots of extra pool towels and linens. Some restaurants and small grocery store within 2-10 minute drive. "
