Similar to a review below, I am also hesitant to write a rave review simply because it would be my hope that this remains, for the most part, one of the undiscovered gems of the Exuma Cays. This was our first time in the Bahamas, and of all the Caribbean destinations we have traveled, this is by far the most fun we've had! Ida and Terrence are wonderful hosts; this stay will exceed your expectations in ways that cannot be put into words! The locals are all so friendly and unlike many other Caribbean islands, actually make a point of getting to know you...we even had a few of them over to our cottage for drinks one evening. We had been given nicknames by the second day of our stay Lorraine's mother makes the most amazing coconut bread--she bakes it out of her charming home kitchen behind Lorraine's cafe. If you are an experienced boater- renting a boat is a must in order to experience all the Exumas has to offer. We rented a boat from Raymond 'Breadboy', expensive but worth it. Ida and Terrence also have a very nice boat available as well. Having the golf cart included was a huge bonus- we did a lot of birdwatching and exploring on remote dirt roads and deserted beaches on Great Guana Cay. If you are looking for resort-type ammenities and lots of sightseeing and tourist attractions, this is not the place for you! But if you are looking to get away from it all and experience the 'real Bahamas', this is the place for you!
I would only recommend bringing with you as much food as possible as groceries can be limited and fairly pricey. We brought pasta, rice, crackers, chips, trail mix, oatmeal, spices, etc. and ate very well.
Thank you Ida, you were a wonderful host and we are looking forward to our next trip to Black Point :)
