Beautiful mountain getaway near everything
My family and I spent a week at this cabin first week of June and it was amazing! The check-in and check-out process were very smooth and easy. The house was very clean and filled with beautiful photography and nature books. We had two kids aged 2 and 4 so the swing set was a huge hit. From the property we could see broad winged hawks, fence lizards, box turtles and even some black bears walking through! A true nature-lover's paradise. My youngest daughter fell in love with the bear stuffed animal left on one of the beds so we ended up buying a similar one in town. Don't miss the very kid-friendly Foothills Grange brewery in Black Mountain. Also check out the Sassafras on Sutton bookstore / toy store. We visited the newly opened Catawba Falls trail and it was a beautiful but challenging hike in the mud--good boots required if it is wet, but worth it! Climbed to Craggy Pinnacles for amazing view on a stormy day. Also spent a day in Joyce Kilmer to see the 400+ year old trees there and visited the WNC Nature Center to see the wild life. Kids had a blast. The cabin is very centrally located to great hikes and restaurants / breweries / activities in Asheville. I would 100% recommend it! The only thing I would point out is the cabin does not have a view of the mountains in the summer months due to trees fully leafed out. This makes it feel almost like a secluded tree house--not a downside! Easy to see them from many other spots nearby.
