Rooms are nice and comfortable and ours had a beautiful balcony patio with a view. The owner was lovely and very helpful. He even provided a ride to the airport for a fee, super handy! "to begin with I have to admit I liked the 501 against my better judgement at times but the location and views allows a lot to be forgiven.
I can imagine the 501 in its glory days would have been spectacular. the architecture is still on place and quality never goes out of style.
however the old girl does look a little tired and could benefit from a little renovation in places.
the staff, mainly Italian or course and many locals, can be a little abrupt or disinterested when they are busy...

Everything was great — the location is perfect, right in the center of Pizzo Calabro with lots of dining options just steps away. The room was clean and comfortable. The only thing I’d suggest is adding a dehumidifier or better ventilation, as the humidity was noticeable at times. Overall, a lovely experience!"
