Stayed here with our family. We had a great time. The home was clean, quiet and peaceful with the small river just behind it. Beds were comfy and had a lot to offer.
The cabin was very comfortable, and the surrounding property was beautiful! The temperature was in the high 80s-low 90s, but the AC kept the cabin very comfortable. Everything was very clean. Brent was very easy to reach and responded quickly to any messages. Be sure to take a walk to the campground down the road to see the HUGE 800-900 year old cyprus trees!
Location was amazing. A great cabin overlooking White Salmon River. Comfortable accommodations and spacious. Deer in the front yard most mornings and access to the river.
A nice remote spot to spend quality time with friends! Good communal spaces, comfortable beds and most importantly - good AC!
Brent was a great host, super communicative and helpful with recommendations. We’d definitely visit again!
Beautiful private location. The calming view of the stream was amazing. We got to observe a family of deer outside the property during breakfast. Host was easy to contact. Star link internet was great.
My wife and I stayed here while visiting family on the area. It was such a relaxing spot to come home to at the end of a long day out. Sitting by the Little White Salmon river right in the backyard is incredibly relaxing. Also an easy ~25 minute drive into Hood River.
After a bit of trouble with opening the door, we were greeted with an incredible view of the Little White Salmon River. The kitchen was well stocked, living room very comfortable, beds were also comfortable. The peace and quiet were so wonderful and rest
Within easy driving distance of Hood River or Portland, this was a quiet getaway for a weekend to relax and refocus the mind. The house is very well-appointed, with a coffee maker that was welcome in the chilly mornings and the creek going by for the warmer afternoons (living room gets warm, so outside walk after lunch is highly recommended). I think I heard the rumble of an airplane going by, but other than that, there were only nature sounds!
I stayed with a friend for 3 nights in April. We saw elk, wood ducks, and other brightly colored varieties of ducks. The house was clean, beds were comfortable, and kitchen was well-stocked. We enjoyed our time so much that we canceled a planned outing in order to enjoy the property more. Though the weather was lovely during our stay, it would have been just as enjoyable in the rain or cold because the big picture windows are perfectly situated. And to top it off, the host is congenial and communicative (though not overly so). Very pleased with our stay!
Rented the house to attend a wedding at Gorge Crest Vineyards. Great very remote location. Wedding party was in Hood River which is about 30 minutes from the house but a beautiful drive. House worked out great.
We’ve loved being out and away from everything and this spot was just perfect… love having the windows open at night to listen to the river, flow and birds sing in the morning. Didn’t mind the drive into Hood River or into Washington Wineries as it kind of gave us a central point for both. Brent was wonderful to deal with as a property manager/owner and answered my questions in a very, very timely manner.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely, comfortable home in the forest. It rained 2 of the 4 days we were there, but that made a nice excuse to relax in an armchair next to the amazing windows with a book and a mug of tea. The driveway is roughly 1/3 mile long, which makes a nice daily stroll. We loved seeing the skunk cabbage and pacific dogwood in bloom. We also enjoyed exploring the area, per Brent's recommendations. Brent is a kind, friendly host and we are grateful to have had this time in Willard!
Spent 2+ weeks here. Our 7 y.o. grandson had his first fishing experience in the river. We loved the quiet, solitude, wildlife, dark skies and the wonderful murmur of Little White Salmon river in the background.
The house had plenty of room for the 5 of us on weekends, and during the quiet weekdays it was nice to stretch out.
It is about a 25 minute drive into the city of White Salmon. There's a local grocery store there that will have pretty much everything you need, and after shopping have lunch at the bakery which has wonderful sandwiches.
We didn't want to leave!
Brent is a wonderful host, he was great for suggesting local activities and filling us in on the history of Willard.
This spotlessly clean home is set far off the road in a woodland setting along a river. The large windows and light-colored wood make the home feel bright and cheery even on overcast days.
The kitchen is well-supplied with nice cook ware and there is plenty of seating at the dining table. Our family (3-year old grandson, son/daughter-in-law, ourselves) had plenty of comfortable private and shared space. The home could easily accommodate more using a day-bed upstairs and fold-out couch in the living area. For those who want to stay connected, WiFi and the satellite TV work great.
No fancy deck or lawn, but that was the charm for us... just natural. There are two campgrounds very close by with trails to explore. We also checked out the alpaca farm - very fun and interesting. We came for some springer fishing, and the home is within 20 minutes of the launches. Plenty of parking area for a boat and trailer. The Gorge offers all kinds of adventure!
Brent is a great host. Check in/out instructions timely and clear. We also appreciated hearing about area history, places to check out, the home-building process. I gave the accuracy listing 4 stars instead of 5 simply because the pictures don't do the home justice :)
Our grandson summed it up best when he rolled into his driveway: "Noooo! Back to the 'cation house with gramps and grams!"
Wonderful stay, the house and it’s setting couldn’t be beat. Very comfortable with beautiful scenery. Communication with owner was great and very helpful.
Lovely riverside property with wildflowers, butterflies, and birds. We enjoyed relaxing away from hustle and bustle of Hood River. The host was prompt in responding to questions, and we had everything we needed.
Very isolated and very picturesque. We saw no human beings, but saw a family of turkeys and family of deer go by our front windows. The host was very kind and helpful. Everything was perfect!
It was a beautiful peaceful setting. Just what my family needed. Very comfortable. We saw lots of wildlife daily! It was close to everything we wanted to see and do while visiting.
Hideaway in the old growth forest. Bubbling brook (Little White Salmon River right out the front door. Ice cold for after-hike feet soaking. Coolest spot in the heat wave too! I can’t say enough good things about the home and host.
