We came up for Oktoberfest and location was perfect. It was about 2-3 blocks walking distance from the festival. The place is kept very clean and they left clear instructions for both arrival and departure.Through no fault of theirs, a rare occurrence, unfortunately the power was out from 11:30-9 am and a neighbors generator woke us up at 3 am. We were not aware of this neighborhood outage but I looked it up the next morning and saw a notice that Bear Valley Electric was performing services. Backyard was great especially with our dog. Lots of pine needles though that my husband cleaned out but we didn’t get a chance to enjoy the backyard - great space. Just some additional notes for reference: - Lighting is a little scarce / dim - Hot water in shower quick for 1 person only - No Dishwasher- Traditional Coffee Maker - Arcade game not available (wasn’t able to turn on)
Perfect home base location for our weekend visit. Just a short walk to Oktoberfest and hiking trails! Also a short drive or trolley ride to Big Bear Village. The hot tub was hot upon arrival and check in was easy. We enjoyed the retro arcade machine, the board games (especially Big Bear Monopoly) and large TV for movies and sports. The heater kept the cabin nice and warm on our first night. We had arrived later and didn't have firewood to try out the wood stove, but the next day we found there are multiple firewood companies that sell smaller amounts of wood and kindling nearby. The wood stove was so nice and heated up the cabin even better than the heater. We also appreciated the well-equipped kitchen with a tea pot, drip coffee machine, toaster, microwave, gas stove, oven, and other small appliances. Glasses, mugs, serving platters, steak knives, baking pans, mixing bowls, it's all here. This cabin feels like you're visiting a coveted generational family home, not a rental. It's cozy, the neighborhood is quiet and we really enjoyed our stay. The hosts were so great with communication too!
