Comfortable room with en-suite toilet & shower.
Pleasant staff, bar prices very reasonable. Good atmosphere in pub areas. Food not bad, (cheese sauce on nachos not good)
Would recommend as a good base for surrounding attractions.
Staff were lovely. Food was Lovely. Room was clean.
Bathroom was separate from the room. Not ideal for trips to the bathroom during the night. Bar noise from downstairs. Sofa bed was not big enough for 2 children. Very creamy bed.

Disappointing
Very clean room, comfortable bed, good shower.
Lovely meal in the restaurant
It as a cold day/night and the heating was off so the room was cold.
Our room was next to a very Noisey boiler which was very loud.
The decor was bland and uninviting
The room was overpriced and breakfast was an additional cost
Very clean and friendly atmosphere. Excellent area for walking. Easy drive to Bala town and lakes

Trip to North Wales
My 1st time staying at the Y Giler Arms was delightful, friendly staff, tasty food with a lovely view. Will happily stay here again. Listening to the Welsh language being spoken by many patrons and staff was a breath of fresh air.
Very nice and quiet location but the address is misleading as you think you are staying in Betswy.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We had booked a family room which had to be changed to two rooms, but they were right next to each other and it worked well in the end.
The rooms were clean and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay.
Staff was nice but needs to be more organised. We were not aware we needed to order breakfast the evening before and in the morning took us some time to find any of the staff, even to leave the room key when we left.
A good, friendly Welsh country public house that served good ale. I had a three course evening meal that was well presented and had been cooked to perfection. Being the only guest that night (Thursday), I was asked in the evening what I would like for breakfast the following morning and to chose a time. The breakfast was again well presented and plentiful. Would I recommend this hotel? Certainly. I wish Harry and Tracy every success for the future.

Poor front of house and not Pet Friendly
Y Giler is not Pet friendly as they continue to state on this website. 1 week after they turned us away due to us having a Dog...they are still advertising as Pet Friendly. This place left us high and dry without anywhere to stay, were completely unhelpful and really couldn't care less.

Given room is not en-suite, and it’s separated outside.
No hot water in the morning (was working fine in previous night) and no one there to respond when trying to inform.
Took cold shower, being with family and kids, terrible experience.
A really great experience with a large selection of foods to suit all tastes. The staff displayed a friendly and helpful performance, making it a really enjoyable and relaxing vacation..
We were made to feel very welcome, staff were helpful and friendly. Food was excellent. The room was so clean and well laid out, it was restful when you came back from a long day out.
This property is set amongst beautiful farmland with great views. We got a warm and friendly welcome on arrival and were shown to our room. The room was quite small (but adequate) and very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. We had all the facility's needed for our 2 night stay. Betws-y-Coed is around 10 minutes drive away, so we decided to have our evening meals at the property. The food was really good and the service from the staff exceptional. If visiting N. Wales again, we would definitely stay here without hesitation.
The advert on hotels.com says it’s in Betsw-y-coed, it’s not and cost us £25 each way in taxi fairs.
The hotel book in the room says that the staff will do anything for you.. we asked them to book us a taxi and we’re greeted with “don’t you have mobile phone reception”. We ended up taking to a member of staff 5 times before we actually got a taxi booked.
The rooms are on the small side which isn’t a bad thing but the walls are paper thin and we were kept awake by someone snoring in the room next to us.
Service is not great, at breakfast we ask for a full cooked and toast.. the full cooked breakfast arrived and we waited for the toast, and waited until we had to remind someone we wanted toast. When it arrived it was warm bread not toast.
Best thing to say about the hotel is it has amazing views.
Amazing staff, great location, good (basic) menu but excellent prices, clean rooms and overall a fantastic one night stopover. TV doesn't get reception sometimes so if you want to watch the Euros you're out of luck (some may take that as a huge positive 😂).
I had the single room overlooking the lake and woke up to see the sunrise, which was breathtaking.
I could have booked somewhere more modern in Conwy or Llandudno but this place makes a great alternative and the drive and the views are spectacular.
A lovely place to spend a few nights. Good food in the evening and for breakfast but you have to make your own arrangements for lunch (hardly a problem - eat while you're out).
