  • When in SouthWest Arizona be sure to visit the wine region. There are about 18 different wine estates in Sonoita/Elgin wine region. The wine estates are nothing like California, South Africa or Europe, but it is interesting to know that vines can grow in these harsh weather conditions and rocky terrain. We tried three Estates and we would only recommend the oldest vineyard in the area, Sonoita Vineyards. They have some interesting wines and we would rate them fair to good especially for being in AZ. The main building does not have that much charm like wine estates in Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, but the surrounding views are beautiful. Locals have mentioned that Hops & Vines is another estate worth trying.

Loved our ranch stay

Our cabin was spacious, clean, comfortable, and private. I loved being near the horses. Amenities such as fridge and tv were nice. My phone struggled to connect to the Wi-Fi, but I didn’t really need it for this trip. I would love to return!

Excellent - want to go again

I took a two-day solo trip with my dog to celebrate my birthday. It was a very last minute plan, but I am so glad I stayed here! The cabin was spacious, had anything I could need, was very clean, and was so comfortable. The location was pretty far out of the way, but that's exactly what I wanted. The owners were super nice and very welcoming; everyone I interacted with was friendly and great. I didn't do any horseback riding this time, but I am looking forward to staying here again. Don't miss this excellent place!

Expedia only gives this guest ranch the option to stay there. Expedia left the cost for riding out.The ranch is well run and better than most other guest ranches, because it limits the amount of rider guests to a minimum, which has the appeal of a more close relations with the great staff that caters to you and you can get more personal attention. It also has great trails out into the desert & mountains. The ranch gives you a genuine western cowboy or cowgirl experience. The owners try to do their best to make the experiece s memorable & satisfying one. Dreams come true at The Double R Ranch.

Ron & Trina, are wonderful owners and make everyone feel welcome! There horses are well taken care of and wranglers are very well mannered! If a person wanted to watch the stars at night this is a great location, far out in country!

Overall stay was good. Cottage could use a deep clean. Under bed was massive amount of dust. Floors needed a mopping. Window blinds very dirty rest was okay. I understand they are very busy people and probably burnt out from all the hard work. I understand. So I'm not being harsh just a honest review. They are trying their best. Their customer service was good for the most part. Pleasant stay overall. Horses were amazing. The horseback ride in the mountains was incredible. Sunsets are divine there. Would stay again. Friendly and welcoming folks. Go there!!!!

Disaster!!

Buter beware, don't do it!! This is not a "Guest Ranch" Just a guy at the end of a 15 mile, very ruted road with a couple of muddy horses. It us not a cabin, described as a she shed, they tried to dress up. No amenities. Take a high center four wheel drive. It is not in Benson. No AT&T or Verizon cell service. Not safe for a two single ladies. They refused to give us credit when we couldn't get in there.
