A brand new, roomy and one of a kind A-frame designed in the style of the classic “Kingdom of Schuss” chalets – but with all the modern amenities! Set right in the fabulous Shanty Creek/Schuss Mountain resort area, A-Frame of Mind is a place you and your family will never forget.

An Austrian inspired A-frame, the house was just recently completed. It features an open, airy floorplan, 4 comfy bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and a custom recreation room with TONS to do. There’s a large deck overlooking the hardwood forest, a firepit for gathering around the bonfire at night, and an awesome outdoor Finnish barrel sauna. Wi-Fi, cable TV, in-house laundry facilities, and a pack n play type crib are also included.

Lower Floor (Rec room)
The main entry door is located on the lower level, right off the driveway and a few steps up. This floor is a kid’s (and adult’s) paradise with games, cool décor and lots of things to do. The main rec room area is a spacious spot with dimmable lighting, leather sofas and chairs, and a smart TV with old school Atari 2600. There's a pool table and a great retro table top arcade game loaded with hundreds of all the great games from the 80s and 90s you remember. There are plenty of windows for a nice cross breeze in the summer. This floor also contains a full bath with custom tiled tub/shower and two bedrooms – one with a twin/full bunk and twin trundle pull-out. The other bedroom has two sets of twin bunk beds. There are smart TVs in both bedrooms, and also a refrigerator for your use on this floor as well. The kids may be interested in their own special spot in the “fort” located under the stairs 😊.

Main Floor (living, dining, kitchen)
Taking the stairs to the main level (there's also a front door to the main floor, with stairs to the driveway area) the entire kitchen / living room / dining room is all open space with gorgeous soaring knotty pine ceilings and tons of windows. The kitchen has a huge quartz topped island with a main sink and seating for 4. There's plenty of storage space (cabinets, pantry, etc.), a new refrigerator with ice maker, range, microwave and dishwasher. There is another sink in the main counter space as well. All utensils, pots, pans, etc. are provided. The kitchen opens to a spacious living area with new leather sofas, comfy chairs, and a beautiful 60" linear electric fireplace to gather around with friends and family. A large smart TV is mounted over the fireplace. The dining area adjacent to the kitchen has a large dining table with seating for 8-10, and overlooks the spacious deck. A main ceiling fans keep things cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Also on this floor: a bedroom with a queen bed, dresser, and seating. And a luxurious master bathroom with custom tiled walk-in shower (including under niche LED lighting) and floating vanity. A laundry room with high capacity washer/dryer is right next to the bathroom. Sliding glass doors in the living area open onto the deck - with serene views of the woods and firepit. On the deck there’s seating for dining and an outdoor sofa set and gas grill for your use.

Loft
Taking the stairs up to the loft area, you'll find a large, bedroom with a queen bed, seating, dresser, smart TV, and open closet for storage. There is also a beautiful half bath with a skylight adjacent to the bedroom. The loft area is open to below, with views of the woods through the huge windows. It also has seating and a desk / chair if you MUST work while you’re on vacation… 😊

Outside
A-Frame of mind is perched at the top of a small hill in the woods. The driveway is rather steep and can be slippery in the winter – 4-wheel drive is recommended. At the top of the driveway there’s a firepit right across from the deck with chairs for gathering. An outdoor sauna is just steps from the house, and Cornhole and giant Connect Four outdoor games are also available. Extensive outdoor landscape lighting - controlled by switch - adds to the warmth and ambiance. The house is in the woods surrounded by some open space (since this is a new construction, the lot is mainly dirt until the woods fills back in.) There’s plenty of room for parking cars in the circle drive.


A-Frame of Mind is perfectly located to take advantage of four seasons of Northern Michigan splendor! Sitting in the hardwood forest, it's only minutes from skiing, pools, golf, lakes and outstanding restaurants.

In the milder months, there's plenty to do here. Drive the kids a couple minutes over to the Lakeview hotel to swim in the outdoor pool at the top of the ski hill (with a great view of Lake Bellaire a couple miles away!) Put in a few holes at the most picturesque golf courses in the state. Take a 15-minute drive out to gorgeous Torch Lake. Hike, bike and play on some of Michigan's most beautiful and well-kept trails. Visit the U-pick berry farms, or maybe climb to the top of Schuss Mountain. The property is located in a wooded neighborhood full of paved, gently rolling streets and paths and is great for bike riding. There are many mountain biking trails around the area as well - the famous Glacial Hills bike trail system is only 10 minutes away. Or maybe just sit out on the deck with your morning coffee; high up in the trees, you'll hear only the whispering hardwoods and occasional chickadee.

For the colder months, the family friendly Schuss Mountain (or the "Kingdom of Schuss" as we call it) offers the very best skiing and snowboarding around. A-Frame of Mind is only a 2 minute drive to the ski hill, or you can park up at the top of the hill and take the walking path to the slopes. Sledding, tubing, and trails for cross country skiing and snowshoeing are within a few minutes’ drive, as are trails for riding your Fat Mountain Bikes. We have membership access to two indoor pools and hot tubs at Schuss and Summit villages, also only a few minutes' drive. When the day is done, curl up in front of the fireplace with a good book and good company. Or maybe hit the outdoor sauna with a couple of friends to relax and talk about the day.

The Bellaire area offers access to hundreds of attractions. Shanty Creek boasts five championship golf courses: Cedar River (Weiskopf), The Legend (Palmer), Schuss Mountain Course, Hawk's Eye and Summit Course. In addition, other excellent courses are conveniently located nearby. Take a short trip to Lake Bellaire, Torch Lake, or Grand Traverse Bay on Lake Michigan for swimming or boating, or enjoy a nice, relaxing canoe ride down the Jordan river.
