I stumbled upon this listing when, at short notice, I needed a home base for a week-long work trip. I doubt this place will be available on short notice in the future because it is great and will get booked out well in advance. If I have work or fun in this part of Maine in the future, this is the place I will try to book.
I loved the cabin-like appearance of the outside. Inside, it had clearly been recently updated. It's cozy, but also reasonably roomy. I think it could serve two small families, which about right for a pond vacation anyway. There's only one full bath, but there is an outside shower.
The outside patio is amazing. I love the rustic stone design, including the granite steps to the lake. After putting in long work days we would crack open a cold one, fire up the mosquito coils (a must!) and sit out there listening to the loons. We managed to get out in the provided canoe a couple times. That's a nice perk!
This is the last house on the road and in a very quiet spot.
We had to contact Vacasa at one point because the cleaning crew had left garbage bags outside and raccoons got into it. Adding an outside trash can would be helpful.
Finally, future renters should open all the kitchen cabinets. There's a special poem taped inside one that is informative and entertaining. I'll leave it at that!
