The best area to stay in Begijar is the historic town centre, particularly around Plaza de la Constitución and Calle Real.

This central area is the heart of Begijar, offering a convenient and pleasant base for exploring. It's very walkable, with narrow, winding streets that open onto charming squares. You'll find many of the town's traditional tapas bars, local shops, and the impressive Church of Santiago Apóstol within a short stroll.

Couples will find the historic centre particularly appealing due to its romantic feel and easy access to evening strolls and authentic dining experiences. The proximity to the Castle of Begijar ruins provides a lovely backdrop for a relaxed afternoon.

For those seeking a quieter stay with easy access to the town's amenities, areas just outside the immediate Plaza de la Constitución, such as streets leading towards the municipal park, offer a more residential feel while still being a short walk from the main attractions.

The best time to visit Begijar is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months. These periods offer pleasant weather, ideal for exploring the town and surrounding area without the intense heat of summer or the cooler temperatures of winter.

Spring in Begijar sees temperatures ranging from 18°C to 25°C, with blooming olive groves and wildflowers. This is a lovely time for outdoor activities like hiking in the nearby Sierra Mágina Natural Park or simply enjoying a leisurely stroll through Begijar's historic centre. The mild weather makes it comfortable to visit local olive oil mills and sample regional produce.

Autumn provides similar comfortable temperatures, typically between 20°C and 28°C, and the landscape takes on beautiful golden hues as the olive harvest begins. This season is superb for those interested in the culinary traditions of Andalusia, as many local festivals celebrate the olive and its oil. You'll find it a great time to explore the town's architecture and enjoy al fresco dining.

While summer (July and August) can be very hot, often exceeding 35°C, it's a good time for travellers who enjoy a slower pace, perhaps relaxing by a pool, and experiencing local siesta culture.
