Hotel Adler

Hotel Adler

10/10 Excellent
"When I originally booked my stay, comments from previous guests described the decor as old and outdated. I found the opposite. The building is old (German poet Schiller once stayed there), but the room was modern throughout with walk in shower and staff very professional and polite. Breakfast was very good, and the hotel is right on the market square in the heart of the city within easy walking distance of everything. A farmer’s market is in the market square in front of the hotel several times a week as well as a stand with Thuringian bratwurst. A tourist info center by the market square next to city hall (Rathaus) was very helpful. I highly recommend the Adler Hotel in Rudolstadt."

Hauptstraße, as the main street, connects key points within the village.

When is the best time to go to Bechstedt?
The best time to go to Bechstedt is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the Thuringian countryside is at its most appealing.

The days are generally sunny, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking or leisurely strolls through the charming villages. This period also avoids the peak summer crowds and the colder winter months.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the serene atmosphere of Bechstedt in late spring or early autumn. The mild weather allows for pleasant walks hand-in-hand through the blooming or richly coloured landscapes, and many local eateries will have outdoor seating available.

For solo travellers interested in heritage and nature, these seasons offer the best conditions for visiting sites like the historic Wartburg Castle, which is a short drive away, or simply enjoying the peaceful rhythm of rural German life.
