This makes it difficult to sleep, since there is also no AC in the room, so the flies and mosquitoes were everywhere in the room. Your hotel is right by the horse stable so flies and mosquitoes are a given. Please install them for your rooms!"

Hotel und ReuterHaus
Old Town Wismar
7.8 out of 10, Good, (63 reviews)
"I was there just for one night. It‘s a nice but old fashioned hotel. The rooms were clean, but in a stormy night it wasn’t quite easy to sleep as the room was noisy, probably due to the building itself. Calling prior to the trip the reception to evaluate where I could park, they were quite difficult to understand (no native German). Even a written request wasn’t answered. I only had luck to find a public parking place right in front of the hotel, within the free parking times. "

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Barnekow?
The best area to stay in Barnekow is the village centre, particularly near the Barnekow Church and the surrounding countryside.

Barnekow is a small, quiet village, so the "centre" refers to the cluster of homes and guesthouses around the historic Barnekow Church. This area offers a peaceful, rural setting, superb for those looking to escape the bustle of city life. You'll find open fields and walking paths right on your doorstep.

Couples seeking a tranquil retreat will find this area ideal. It's superb for enjoying long walks in the countryside, cycling along quiet lanes, and simply relaxing in a serene environment. The local guesthouses often provide a cosy, personal touch, making for a very relaxing stay.

For families with young children, staying in the heart of Barnekow offers a lovely base for exploring the Mecklenburg region. The open spaces provide plenty of room for children to play, and the slow pace of life makes it easy to enjoy quality time together without distractions.
When is the best time to go to Barnekow?
The best time to visit Barnekow is during the late spring and summer months, from May to September.

Travellers looking for pleasant weather for outdoor activities will find May and June ideal. The temperatures are comfortably mild, great for exploring the surrounding Mecklenburg countryside, enjoying walks around the nearby lakes, or cycling along the well-maintained regional paths. This period also sees fewer crowds compared to the peak summer, offering a more tranquil experience.

For those who enjoy warmer weather and longer daylight hours, July and August are excellent choices. These months are great for spending time by the Baltic Sea coast, which is a short drive away, or enjoying the various watersports available on the regional lakes. Families often find these months particularly suitable due to school holidays and the wider availability of activities.

September offers a lovely transition, with mild temperatures and the start of autumn colours. It's a great time for couples seeking a peaceful getaway, with fewer tourists and a relaxed pace.
