"The location is fine but when we arrived, they had no record of our Expedia booking. They then put us into a tiny room near the entrance, barely enough room for our luggage. My wife asked for an extra pillow and was told it was not possible. I then went and insisted and an extra pillow was reluctantly produced. The aircon is good and the wifi is fine but when booking, make sure you are confirmed and request a photo of the room so they don't put you into that shoe box."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Baraya?
The best area to stay in Baraya is within the town centre itself, particularly around the main square, Parque Principal de Baraya.

This central area is where you'll find most of the local amenities and the heart of the community. It's a compact and walkable district, with the main church, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, dominating one side of the square. The surrounding streets are lined with small shops, cafes, and eateries, giving you a real sense of local life.

For travellers interested in understanding the local culture and interacting with residents, staying near Parque Principal de Baraya is ideal. You'll be right where local events often take place and can easily access everything on foot.
When is the best time to go to Baraya?
The best time to visit Baraya, Huila, Colombia, is during the dry season, which typically runs from June to September and December to February.

During these months, you'll experience less rainfall and more sunshine, making it ideal for outdoor activities like exploring the surrounding natural landscapes and visiting coffee plantations. The roads are also in better condition for travel during the drier periods.

Couples looking for a relaxing escape will appreciate the pleasant weather for enjoying the area's natural beauty and quiet charm. The drier months allow for comfortable strolls through local markets and visits to nearby waterfalls without the interruption of heavy downpours.

For travellers interested in cultural experiences and local festivals, planning a trip around late June could be beneficial. However, always check specific dates as these can vary.
Can I cancel my hotel reservation on Expedia?
You can cancel your hotel reservation on Expedia, though it depends on the cancellation policy of your booking. Most bookings are refundable if cancelled within 24-48 hours of the scheduled arrival. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. If free cancellation is available, you can cancel directly through your Expedia account by logging in, going to "My Trips", and selecting your reservation.
