The space
Our thoughtfully remodeled, 2-bedroom home is in the heart of Bar Harbor's fun-filled downtown. This fabulously appointed second-floor apartment boasts a private entrance and a primary bedroom with a cozy seating area overlooking Cottage Street, which makes for a perfect place for your morning cup of coffee. It also features an in-unit washer and dryer, a full kitchen with a dining area, a granite-topped island, stainless appliances, air conditioning, a propane fireplace, and more.

Your home away from home contains all you need for a comfortable getaway once you've seen all the gorgeous local natural attractions. New kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms; everything has been completely remodeled and is sparkling clean, using enhanced cleaning procedures.

Guest access
Our unit is centrally located in the fun, lively heart of town, in the center of dozens of restaurants, bars, and shops. As such, some street noise is unfortunately unavoidable, especially in peak season. While we have never had trouble, exceptionally light sleepers may prefer the 2nd, off-street bedroom.

**Complimentary breakfast is available during restaurant hours, mid-May to late-October.

  • The Criterion in downtown Bar Harbor, Maine, does not look very much from the exterior, but it is a glorious, well-preserved Art Deco style theatre. Opening in 1932, it has served the town of Bar Harbor as a movie palace ever since, accomodating such prominent families as the Rockefellers on their vacations to nearby Mount Desert Island. Kept in fantastic condition over the years, the theatre still has most of its original interior: seats, curtains, and even the original lighting board for stage performances. Great Property to stay at in downtown Bar Harbor

Had a great time, walking distance to everything in town. Easy drive into the national park. Would have been good to know that the free parking was permit street parking and not a spot on the property.

The apartment was perfect! It was clean, the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed,, we used the washer and dryer to clean up after hiking and kayaking in the very nearby park. The downtown location was fun and convenient. I would definitely come back!

First Anniversary

My husband and I had a wonderful stay for our first anniversary. Bar Harbor is a beautiful town and this VRBO is located directly in the middle of it all. The location was perfect for walking to food, shops, the pier, and most importantly, the Island Explorer bus stops. Although a little pricey, it was tidy, warm and had everything we needed in the kitchen and extra bedding for snuggling up.

The property was beautiful, great lighting from the skylights, and great location. The only problem with this property is parking. A parking permit is provided, but there was never a spot available in the designated areas. We had to pay for parking daily by the hour at the Pay for Parking kiosks.

Outstanding location!

We had the best time staying at this rental property! We were there over the 4th of July and watched the parade from the front bedroom windows, it was so much fun. Absolutely incredible location in the heart of town - but along with the location came some challenges including no dedicated parking and some noise from the nearby bars at night. The property had beautiful natural light, but that also meant it was bright in the mornings. We ended up returning our rental car early to not deal with parking once we were finished with our hiking days and spent the rest of the time walking since we could walk anywhere in town easily. Would definitely recommend to a friend!

Cottage Street Gem

Let me just start by saying that you really can’t find a better location to stay in Bar Harbor. When I say that you are really in the thick of it, all, I mean that you are truly in the thick of it all. Cottage Street? Say less. Location is by far one of the main selling points of booking this property, but at the end of the day it’s the comfort, amenities, and aesthetic of the apartment that sets the standard even more so. The intentional decorating, beautifully remodeled space, and home away from home environment that Mandy has built really leaves guests feeling like this is their home. I know there are some reviews about sound being an "issue" but this is a non-factor when you consider exactly where you’re staying — in the thick of it all, right in the heart of downtown. You can walk everywhere, there’s a lovely, modern restaurant downstairs that has Mandy’s personal flair blessed all over it, a pub across the street, and even karaoke two doors down on certain nights. Walkability? 100/10. Huge thank you to Mandy for making this possible, I’d love to stay there again when I don’t have to come for work.

Perfect location for Bar Harbor stay

Thanks so much for a great stay. Plenty of space for our family of five and can’t beat the central location. Host was responsive and having a place to park was incredibly helpful. We also loved the breakfast right downstairs. We didn’t have any problems with noise as mentioned by other reviews. We would book again if in the area!

Everything you hope a rental will be. Clean, centrally located, no long check out chore list. The free parking was a half mile (pleasant) walk but that was well communicated. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Easy from start to finish!

The title of the listing says it all - the location was perfect! Right in the heart of everything and steps from so many different dining and shopping options, including the breakfast right downstairs (which we took advantage of several mornings!). I noticed some earlier reviews talked about noise and lights from the businesses across the way, but the main bedroom had solid curtains and we weren’t bothered by any excessive noise at all. The unit was comfortable and well equipped with new firnishings, and the master bed was amazingly comfortable! Would definitely stay again.
