"A/C did not work, towels and sheets were dingy. Not enough towels for 2 guests. Had a trial size hair conditioner on the counter that looked as if it had been there for a long time. Toilet not bolted down to floor. Room was not clean."
Best Western Plus Philadelphia-Choctaw Hotel and Suites
8/10 Good
"Check-in was easy and pleasant. Elevator worked fine. No ice machine on 2nd floor. Our room was nice and cold and the refrigerator set on max when we arrived. A disappointment was dust on the nightstand and we found nail clippings between the bedspread and bedsheets. Did they change the sheets? If so, how do you get nail clippings in there like that? I slept on the bedspread. The microwave worked fine. The breakfast was good. We really liked the capuchino making machine. It gave you several choices. The biscuits and gravy were good but the gravy was luke warm. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy. Rooms were a little noisy around 10:00pm. We had lots of work trucks parked on the lot. AC compressor in room was noisy when it kicked on. TV was good size. I didn't find any movie channels (hbo, max, etc.). I think for the area, this might be the best you can find, except the casino hotels."
"I am from Washington State. You were recommended by a local Carthage friend. I was pleasantly surprised by what i found. I love old things and wish I could have lived 100 years ago. This place was just that character. Very nice renovation. The room was small, but all I .needed. There was a problem with the toilet I noticed right off, but called the office and it was taken care of while I was out and about for the day. Came back that night and everything worked great. Fast service. The roof top patio area was very nice. Sat out there with friends in the evening. It was pretty much a self service accommodation. Never met a live person face to face. But everything was easily done on line."
Nature walks • Ponds • Firepit • Garden -6 miles off the Natchez Trace
10/10 Excellent
"If you’re driving the Trace, this is a must stay. We left Natchez at 9AM and arrived here at 3PM check-in time. This is one of the top places we have ever rented. This is an exceptional property. Their attention to detail is amazing. The grounds are rustic looking with plenty of spots to relax and have a beverage, grill a steak and enjoy nature. If you want to take a walk on their land, they mowed a fresh path through the tall grass to get to the pond, barn, etc. We brought charcoal for the grill, but it was already freshly loaded with charcoal and ready to go. There was a storm that night and was able to tuck my car away in the carport. Now to the VRBO. It is very spacious, updated and tastefully decorated. It was super clean. The bed is very comfortable. The coffee bar is a great touch! The cinnamon buns in the freezer were outstanding and a great start before continuing our journey on the Trace. All the amenities of home. This is absolutely a must stay for a peaceful and relaxing getaway."
"Laurel Hill was exactly what we were looking for and exceeded our expectations in every way. The home was spotless, beautifully decorated, and felt both cozy and welcoming from the moment we arrived. You can tell the owners have put a great deal of thought and care into every detail. One of our favorite things about this property was the peaceful setting. Sitting on the front porch in the morning with a cup of coffee while enjoying the beautiful country views was the perfect way to start each day. In the evenings, we loved relaxing outside and listening to the quiet sounds of nature. It was such a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The location was also ideal. We were close to the fairgrounds, casino, golf course, and local attractions, yet the property still felt private and secluded. The combination of convenience and tranquility is hard to find.Inside, the home was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The recent renovation is beautiful, and the house feels fresh, updated, and inviting while still maintaining its country charm.Whether you’re visiting for the Neshoba County Fair, a golf trip, a casino getaway, or simply looking for a relaxing retreat in the Mississippi countryside, Laurel Hill is a wonderful place to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would absolutely return. Highly recommended!"
