The Neighborhood:
The hideaway is less than a quarter mile from the entrance of Beech Mountain Ski Resort. Staying close to the resort is key during peak season and holiday weekends because traffic on the mountain can get pretty bad.
Our home is located on a small, private road just off Beach Mountain Parkway. Wildlife seen daily from the house (even bears so make sure to put all trash and food in bear safe bin in driveway).
The Hideaway is centrally located and close to all the amentities, restaurants and activities Beech Mountain has to offer. Enjoy privacy of a half acres lot surrounded by trees. Road can be seen in winter but hidden when leaves come in around springtime.
Getting Around:
In winter months we highly suggest 4WD or AWD vehicles. Getting up to Beech Mountain in the winter during snowfall or low temperaturs genrally requires AWD vehciles. If you don't have this feature there are places that sell and install tire chains just past Banner Elk at the base of Beech Mountain.
Other Things to Note:
We are pet-friendly for up to 2 dogs per stay, but all pets must be on reservation and pet fee of $150 paid prior to stay. If your pet is not on the reservation, please reach out to let us know if you are bringing your fur baby so we can collect the pet fee prior to check-in. Pets brought not on reservation will be charged $300.

In winter months 4WD or AWD will be needed if it snows. Our road is short but can be a little steep so be prepared with the right vehicle in winter months or have chains accessible for tires.
Spiral stairs can be dangerous for little children so two safety gates are provided and are suggested to use if kids or small pets are staying in the home.
Wildlife is seen daily, even bears so make sure to always put trash in bear-proof bin in driveway. If trash is left out and animals get into it a clean up fee may be applied or charged.
Ski storage is provided on lower deck. If placing equipment inside please do not prop against the walls to avoid damaging the walls / paint.
Please note: During ski season, we are unable to offer early check-ins or late check-outs unless the house is unoccupied by other guests on the day of your arrival or departure.
Interaction with Guests:
We always have three sets of eyes between co-hosts on each property so we can provide quick responses and help whenever guests need it.

This is a great home and the location is perfect. Just a few minutes away from the sledding hill there in Beech Mtn and Fred's which we love. Host was very responsive as we did have a couple of concerns during our visit but she was very quick to respond. There is a spiral stair case which is tricky with small kiddos and animals. But we put gate up to keep them safe so it worked out well. Great stay!
Had everything we needed - easy access to ski. Fun house to stay in.

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
We stayed at this VRBO this last weekend. The home has a lot of pluses, but also some significant minuses.Pluses: Very close to Beech Mountain skiing. Easy to drop off and pick up, or even come home to warm up or have lunch.Lots of bedrooms with comfortable beds. Host was very responsive at all times.Kitchen comes amazingly well stocked - Kcups, a full bag of coffee, chips, a large assortment of spices….this place has it all.Cons:Don’t believe all the pictures. While the bedrooms look great in the pics, they are deceiving. Master closet has no drawers, shelves or even a rod to hang things on. The furniture, with the exception of the kitchen table, is terrible! Basement sectional is all single pieces that separate and the living sofa was completely broken (owner said a new one was on order)We stayed with 8 people…..and were told two days in advance that the hot water would only last a max of 15 minutes in total. Try using the hot tub and having a cold shower!Hot tub was set to 82 degrees and in Econ mode. Needed a engineering degree to figure out how to get it to a reasonable temp (no instructions)Stair railing down steep stair from upstairs was barely hanging in the wall and dangerously unsafeFinally, careless cleaning left the place pretty gross. A large assortment of cigarette and cigar butts at the fireplace, some sort of “green booger” like thing dried on the living room wall and most light fixtures had months worth of dust.So while it’s convenient

Family Vacation
Overall the house was nice and accommodated our family. Cons: Check in was late due to cleaning crew still being there. Once we were able to go in the house smelled musky and windows were left open. After going around checking out the house we noticed that there was no PS4(later found in owners closet), no popcorn machine, no gumballs, downstairs ice machine didn’t work, and hot tub was dirty. Reached out immediately to property manager she apologized and had someone come out the next morning to clean hot tub. Even though the other amenities seem like a small thing but when you are paying for those things to be included in your stay you expect them. Not to mention the kids were disappointed not to have them. The shower in the king bedroom on the main floor is extremely hard to get in it unless you are very thin. Not a lot of room between the door and the shower wall. The night before we checked out we noticed a pipe leaking down stairs under the spiral staircase. Ended up having to use every towel in the house just to get the water up. Messaged the property manager (10:30pm) to inform her but because it was so late we didn’t hear back until the next morning. Pros: beds were comfy, kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. Would be nice to have dish cloths/towels and potholders. The fireplace on the bottom deck was nice after getting out of the hot tub at night. Property manager was very responsive. Unfortunately it seemed like one thing after another during our stay.
