The check in was terrible. I needed a code to make it inside the lobby area, so family and and I were just standing outside with our luggage until someone who was staying there opened the door for us. Check in was all done with the phone. No one was at the lobby to help out. I called Expedia customer service and it was so hard to get help and after finding someone I couldn’t understand her.

We stayed at NOHGA Hotel Kiyomizu Kyoto for four nights, and it was an excellent base for our time in the city. The hotel has a modern, thoughtful atmosphere, while the location puts you close to Kiyomizu-dera, Gion and the historic streets of Higashiyama. We loved being able to start sightseeing early and return easily after long days exploring Kyoto on foot. The hotel also received our forwarded luggage without any issues and made the next hotel-to-hotel shipment straightforward, which was especially valuable during a multi-city trip. NOHGA offered exactly the mix of character, convenience and calm that we wanted in Kyoto. We would readily recommend it, particularly to first-time visitors who want to stay near the city’s most atmospheric neighborhoods rather than around Kyoto Station.

Kabin Taka is in a good location and is close to public transport, excellent shopping and the Nishiki Markets. The staff are really helpful and the rooms well equipped and comfortable. The addition of a gym was great, although it is quite small. We had two rooms and had no issues at all during our stay.
