Located in a private ocean-front community, this jungle estate offers scenic views and an abundance of wildlife. Relax by the pool or unwind in the hammock while taking in the sounds of nature.
Scenic views, ocean sounds, privacy, comfort, and security are all yours at this private estate on 25 acres of jungle. Plus, an amazing variety of wildlife everywhere you turn.
My three level, three bedroom home sleeps six guests comfortably with two king beds and one double bed on floors two and three. I have a studio apartment for myself on the ground floor. Your villa is private complete with a generous outdoor living area and a charcoal grill. Both units share the pool and a gas grill. Located in a private ocean-front community with over 1,200 acres of lush virgin jungle surrounding the estate.
This is a nature lover’s paradise! Many species of animals can be seen from the home including the famous white-faced monkeys, toucans, sloths, wild pigs, agouti, parrots and many more! This year I installed animal cameras and discovered an ocelot that walks through weekly! There is a large pond teeming with tilapia and a couple of goldfish. The orchard boasts many tropical fruits. Lounging in the poolside hammock with a bird book in your lap is a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.
Sunsets are amazing from the property every night!

Location was amazing and the house fit us just great. We had 4 adults and 2 kids and were able to cook some meals in the kitchen and launch several fun excursions from this jungle gem. Toni was around and super helpful too!
This house is exactly as listed and was perfect for our needs. The views are spectacular and both the owner and property manager are truly beyond helpful. David, the property manager, works as your personal vacation manager for all of your excursions- he truly went above and beyond. I can’t imagine a better rental in this area.
Having stayed in this area many times over the years, this home is truly a standout. Although the entry drive is not for the faint of heart, the magnificent amenities, the creatively maintained landscaping, the view and proximity to both Dominical and Play Matapalo is quite convenient. Our host (and owner) was both gracious and helpful. We definitely will come back again.
We loved the atmosphere of the home. The views were spectacular and the grounds are lovely. There were plenty of towels and beach supplies. The kitchen had everything we needed. The host even provided us with eggs and tortillas as we arrived very late and did not have any supplies for dinner. The birds in the early morning were incredible and we also enjoyed watching the capuchin monkey who was stealing the hanging bananas. It was nice not to have to use the AC unit in the lower two bedrooms. Great to have the open air circulating around the rooms. We didn’t spend much time in the pool as we were at the beach and traveling around. Super glad we had a 4x 4 7 seater car. It is a bit of a challenge driving up to the house for the first time in the dark but you get used to the drive after the first time up and down. Highly recommend the rental. The host is knowledgeable and very friendly.

Loved this place - everything was amazing!
This home was wonderful and had everything we needed. There
are so many fun things to do nearby but what we really liked was the
privacy, lushness of the land, and all the wildlife.
The home was very clean and spacious with all of the essentials to enjoy your day relaxing near the pool or the porch with expansive views of the ocean with a nice ocean breeze all day long.
Highly recommend this VRBO to anyone wanting to visit Costa Rica. The owners Dave and Toni and Property Manager David were top notch. Responded to questions promptly and courteously. Their recommendations for exertions and restaurants were spot on. The house is spectacular with every amenity you would want. Beach views from the house are amazing and the pool/grounds/gardens are spectacular. Would love to stay here again. Thanks so much for a wonderful vacation. Pura Vida!
The house was great! Well built and very comfortable. The pool was nice and the garden was beautiful. We saw so many amazing animals just from the deck. Parrots and Tucans and giant hummingbirds, a bird watcher's paradise! Our Costa Rica contact, David was very helpful and kind. We highly recommend this beautiful home, close to the beach but on the edge of the jungle. Right in the biological corridor, it is a spectacular location to see it all. We even saw an anteater!!
The property is absolutely beautiful with so much care given to the lush gardens and koi pond. The sounds of the birds and jungle are magical and we saw multiple Toucans and hummingbirds right from the expansive balcony. Even the private drive to the house is a great experience. Dave and Toni gave extensive information and recommendations on the area and were a pleasure to deal with. The house has lots of books on Costa Rican birds, mammals and plants so you can look up whatever you are seeing. We will definitely be back!
Really great house with a beautiful view. Lovely and kind owner. Wonderful property manager. Two things we would have liked to have known before we booked. Although there are individual AC units in each of the bedrooms, they have to work very hard to remove the humidity and provide relief from it. There is no AC in the bathrooms, kitchen or main living area. And the owner encourages AC use only 15 minutes per day. So after coming back from a hot hike in the 88 percent humidity, there is little relief and things become sticky and damp. Also, the need for 4 wheel is no joke. Two of the steepest hills we have ever driven are required to get you to the house and they are gravel and become wet and slippery when it rains. We loved the beautiful country and wonderful people in Costa Rica.

The Guapil home was amazing!
The views were amazing! The pool was a perfect touch our daily routine. We had cocktail sunsets everyday we were home. The monkeys past through the trees just behind us every day about an hour before sunset. Too cool. The birds were also a wildlife treat. Especially the Toucans. The house was clean and well furnished. One thing that was a complete surprise was the slope of the hills approaching the property. I had never experienced hills as steep as the ones leading to the property and again this added to the thrill of the vacation. If at all possible, make sure you have a 4 wheel drive. One of our vehicles was a front wheel drive and it negotiated the hills, it was challenging at points. We spent 4 of our 7 days doing planned activities. I caught a 200 lb blue marlin on Christmas Eave. We had a Mountain Top Sunset dinner with live music on Christmas Day. We did a Sunset Catamaran cruise with cocktails, snorkeling and dinner and then wrapped things up with the Tree Canopy and Zip line adventure. David Orozco Jimenez was our property manager and adventure guide and helped us set everything up. He was very responsive to anything we needed and the questions we had. It was a pleasure working with him. We had a blast and loved everything!
Not even sure where to start! It was beyond what words can describe.
From the beginning, Dave and Toni were great with communication and sharing helpful information. Super easy booking / check-in process and clear directions/access information.
And David, their property manager and local tico, is amazing! He helped us every step of the way with booking activities/reservations and pointing out the more local attractions and beaches. He was engaged, accommodating and knowledgeable, and just helped to make our trip that much more memorable! Thank you so much David!
And then you have the house/property-WOW! It was everything and MORE than we could have imagined! The pictures give a great perspective of what to expect, but when you pull up and walk out - just breath taking! It had everything we needed, from cooking to swimming to the beach essentials. And clean!
We saw so much wildlife from the porch! Toucans, monkeys, macaws, agouti, peccary (small pig), numerous birds (including humming birds). Even iguana on the road to the house, which is so beautiful and amazing. Likely the best non pavement road in Costa Rica! We were there in the dry season (mid Feb.) so 4x4 wasn't used, but definitely a must have in general (not only for the house - but if you plan to explore)
And the sounds, from the birds to the waves crashing - we can still hear them - amazing!
The location was perfect, easy access to the road and very close to town. Beautiful and quick 30 minute trip down to Uvita for groceries, and very close to great beaches. Also very centrally located to easily experience Manuel Antonio and Marino Ballena (Whale Tail) national parks. Both were amazing (insider tip, keep driving past the parking vendors to get closer to the park entrances).
David helped us coordinate amazing activities, from ATV riding (to a waterfall), horseback riding (to another waterfall), and hiking (to yet another waterfall!) and pointed us to the most amazing local beaches!
And the Food! The local fruit was delicious. The Ceviche is to die for. And we absolutely loved the simple local Casado and Arroz con Pollo dishes at the less American locations (which you have your pick of). We highly recommend the personal chef, it was a great experience with unbelievable food!
What else can be written?! The house, the property, the people, the scenery, the activities, the beaches, the food, the wildlife - I am sure we are missing something.
But it was just amazing!! Pura Vida!!
My family and I (husband and 2 teenagers) stayed here for 5 nights but we wish it could have been longer. The house is located at the end of a secluded/gated community and is a beautiful piece of property. You can see the ocean for miles. The landscape is beautiful and is surrounded by jungle, so you have the best of both worlds. Dave gave perfect directions to the house. We felt like we were on a scavenger hunt our first time in. It was a lot of fun.
The house itself is beautiful, well decorated, and has very comfortable seating and bedding. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you might need, including spices. The Pool is lovely and was perfect for cooling off.
We throughly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again soon.
We had a fabulous time at Dave & Toni’s place! The views are incredible, our boys (ages 3.5 & 7) loved swimming in the big pool, and the location is great! Monkeys came to visit in the afternoon, lots of bird sightings, and we even saw a whale (with binoculars we brought) from their balcony! Fabulous home, friendly owners and management. Thanks for sharing your home with us!
The house is very comfortable. Three bedrooms with a bathroom attached to each bedroom. A nice pool at the house to cool off in, and conveniently located to the beaches in and around Dominical. Many other attractions close by too.
This villa is in a perfect location...total privacy deep in the jungle yet close enough to the real world for great eats and entertainment. The wildlife around the villa is terrific...the ‘show’ starts shortly after day break every day! A 4 wheel drive is a must...but don’t be scared...it’s fun! The interior of the villa is beautiful, well designed and comfortable. We spent 2 weeks here over Christmas and New Years. Treat yourself cause life’s too short not to! We’ll be back!
The listing is fantastic, the property is even better!!
Absolutely loved the home, the property, and the area. Very easy to get to, private, secluded, and safe.
The owner Dave was helpful and responsive. David, the local property manager and concierge was very pleasant and provided good recommendations for local restaurants and arranged a great rafting trip for us.
I think our next trip to CR will be booked based on the availability of this home. Best I've found in CR.
SIX stars from me!
Wonderful home with wildlife near Dominical and beaches
The home is wonderful and we plan on staying there again in the future.
The home is just as its appears in the photos, no surprises & no disappointments. It's very comfortable and has a great vibe.
The furniture, including the beds and pillows are comfortable. The beds are firm with plenty of support but have soft toppers and were perfect for us. There are plenty of pillows.
The kitchen is well-equipped with more utensils and appliances that we had need for. The gas grill had plenty of propane and we cooked several meals using it.
The pool is nice and the pool-guy comes several times per week to clean and take care of it.
The twenty-five acres is heavily jungled with perhaps two acres cleared and landscaped for the home and pool. There is a trail leading to the end of the property where it borders Hacienda Baru. We saw lots of capuchin monkeys as well as a numbest of peccaries and even a few agouti. There are a multitude of birds who visit the trees on the property. The capuchins eat and play in the trees above and below the home. There are great views of their antics from the second floor patio and the master bath.
Dave and Toni were very communicative as we prepared or our trip; one or the other would return calls and reply to emails promptly. David, the local property manager and de-facto concierge visited us at the property our first morning in the home. He was informative and helpful. He arranged two excursions for us, one to Villa Arturas Animal Sanctuary, a should see, and a paddle board trip through there mangroves with Pineapple Tours.
The drive is two kms on a steep dirt and gravel road from the main gate to the home's gate. You will need a 4x4; we were fine here and on all of the muddy back roads we explored with a small SUV.
Although you drive two kms from the main road, 34, gate up through the hills to the home, the road twists back towards the main road and it is a vey close to 34. It's about 30 meters from the road and 20-30 meters above it. You cannot see the road, there is only one other property visible a long way down the hill and across the road. But, there is traffic noise. The home is very private, but the proximity to 34 allows car and tuck noise to reach the property. It was far outweighed by the home, the pool, and the land, but it is pretty noticeable and should be mentioned as the only drawback to the home. Like I said, we plan to stay here again.
1st, the owners are spectacular with details. We received a 16 pg document about the rental and more importantly about the surrounding areas. It was great. For sure you MUST have a 4x4 vehicle, no doubt. We loved eating at the Jolly Roger and both Uvita and Dominicalito were great beaches for kids. Great property.
We spent the entire month of July 2019 in the house of Dave & Toni. We were on our 6th visit to Costa Rica and our 4th rental house. Difficult to find better by our criteria: the house is secluded, safe (gated community style), offers a breathtaking view (at the top of a mountain) and is very comfortable; good weather, bad weather (wide balcony). The Pacific Ocean stretches infinitely under our eyes constantly that we cook or that we are at the pool. Flora and fauna are omnipresent; monkeys, koati, toucan, sloth, macaws, pig, etc. gives us the impression of being out of the world. Located at the height of the flight of the urubu and surrounded by the musical concert of the different birds, we no longer had the taste to leave for the beach. Short trips made it possible to take advantage of the different beaches nearby depending on whether we wanted an isolated beach (playa linda and guapil) or even more alive (playa dominical and dominicalito). Our 15 year old son surfed with Jeudy Costa Rica Explorer: a must. The staff of the house was friendly and they were able to answer all our questions. Easy to go grocery shopping or find any other service (bank, dental, etc.).

Amazing Property and wonderful hosts
Our stay at this location was wonderful. As we drove up the long, winding mountain road, we felt like we were in paradise. The property is very isolated and remote which is what we love about it. There were many animals we saw going to the property. Once at the house, we fell in love with everything. The view has to be one of the BEST in Costa Rica. The home was perfect for our family of 7. We had a few issues in the beginning with the security entrance gate and passcodes. Dave was available and helpful with all of our requests. Our stay was amazing!!! We would highly recommend this property to anyone that wants seclusion, wonderful views, and an amazing home with very nice pool. Thank You! -The Skalberg Family

True Costa Rica Gem
We just returned from an 8-day stay at Dave and Toni’s villa in Dominical. This is a beautiful home nestled in the middle of the lush jungle forest and overlooks the Pacific. If you’re looking to experience complete tranquility and seclusion with insane sunsets and spectacular sweeping views, then this is the villa for you. The property is in a small-gated community that has some steep hills to climb before you arrive at the house. The 4x4 drive (mandatory) up these hills was an adventure on the first go, but with a bit of practice, was very easy. I would recommend arriving in the daylight. That drive would be daunting at night (especially if it was raining).
The home is designed in a way to enjoy the breathtaking views from every angle and room. One of our favorite times of day was around 5:30pm when the monkeys would come jumping (“crashing") through the trees behind the swimming pool. We had some of our best monkey sightings here at the house, including a mommy monkey with her baby. That was a real treat! You could occasionally see tropical birds soaring around and catch the Blue Morpho butterfly floating through the area. Gorgeous! Once the wildlife quieted down, we would watch the sunset from the hammocks on the deck.
The huge screened windows, sliding doors and outdoor seating areas give this property the feel of outdoor living. We were visiting during the hot/dry season so it was imperative to leave all the windows open to get some cross breeze during the day. At night, the air conditioner could cool down most rooms and then we could turn it off. The small bedroom by the kitchen was the only exception. That room stayed very warm and did require the air conditioner during the night. Every morning, the sun rises early and the jungle will greet you with all its sounds: birds, monkeys...don’t even know all the animals we heard every day.
David, the local property manager, was available for any questions and advice before and during our stay. He visited us the evening we arrived. David has a wealth of knowledge and booked our rental car and various activities throughout the week. He’s very passionate about the area and willing to share his experiences. Overall, our trip was the perfect combination of tropical fun, adventure and quality time with our family. 5 star experience and highly recommended. Pura Vida!

Endless Ocean View, great waves & wildlife galore!
Waking up and going to sleep to this beautiful ocean view, the array of colorful birds, the playful monkeys & curious coti's was a true treat this past week at Dave & Toni's little slice of paradise. House was great for our group of 6- upstairs room was fun for the teens to have their own little ocean view tree house style room. Costa Rica is an adventure lovers paradise, this house gives you adventure with a glamorous twist as we felt like a King & Queen all week. David, the caretaker is awesome! He reserved a front seat spot for us at his hotel for Latin live music night/ dinner was super fun! I'd recommend getting the WhatsApp for super quick communication with him. The horseback riding trip was a highlight (David booked for us) . Great surf all along Dominical area. We have been lucky enough to also stay at Dave & Toni's other villa in Dominical they have been excellent with both transactions! Already figuring out how to get back for another trip to beloved Costa Rica.
