Montgomery Canal, every canal lovers dream. Gleaming in white and black paint the new lift bridge on the Montgomery Canal at Morton farm is nearly completed. It is built to the traditional design in oak. It will be used as a cattle crossing for the nearby farm. The water level is slowly rising as water is allowed to seep in at Gronwen wharf.

Montgomery Canal as many people wanted to see it. Canal is now almost full of water, it is about 150mm below the canal at Gronwen Wharf and still trickling in. Presumably it is still leaking a bit as all the banks get well wetted.

The Current Limit of Navigation. The Montgomery Canal, ran from Lower Frankton on the Wales / England border southward to Newtown in Powys. A major restoration project is slowly seeing this canal returned as a navigable waterway. Gronwen Wharf, pictured above, is the current limit to navigation from the main canal network. There is also a fully restored length of the canal north and south from Welshpool. 47015

Great check in - Tom was so incredibly again helpful as always. Room in the annex was a bit chilly. No towels in the spa which was a bit of a pain but does not detract from the excellent facilities
