Monte da Estrada - Turismo Rural

10/10 Excellent

"What a lovely oasis after days on the trail. Staff super helpful and kindly made a breakfast bag for us when we were leaving too early for the set breakfast time. Sweet quiet rural setting. The UBER from town was easy to book but only at the last minute."

Herdade Do Touril

8/10 Good

"A lovely respite during our walk along the Fisherman's Trail. Everything was great, other than our accommodations were across the road from the main building. After walking for hours and miles, that extra distance was disappointing. Other than the initial golf cart ride with our luggage to the room, we had to walk back and forth to pool, dinner, and breakfast. Five stars for everything else!"

8/10 Good

"We stayed during September, when temperatures reached the early to mid-30sC.There were a few issues. We found ants on the kitchen work surfaces, so everything had to be kept in the fridge. Insect screens on the windows, and the front door, would be useful. The bed linen wasn't great. White sheets would look much nicer than the coloured, mismatched bedding, which appeared rather tatty. However, the bed was very comfortable. The bedroom air-conditioning unit is noisy, making it difficult to sleep with it switched on. Given the high temperatures, this was a problem. The poolside furniture also needs replacing, as it is worn and some items are broken.A few provisions could be improved. Two bin bags are not enough for a week, while the toilet and kitchen rolls were poor quality. A small welcome pack, perhaps including Monchique water, coffee pods for the machine, and local wine or beer, would be a lovely touch.Despite this, we had a wonderful stay. The house is old, charming and full of character. Kitchen is well equipped. Bathroom shower is excellent. Location is perfect, a few minutes’ drive from Monchique. It is quiet, relaxing and secluded, with outstanding views and a wonderful sense of privacy. The private pool was fabulous and lovely to return to after a day out.We enjoyed evenings on the terrace, barbecuing, stargazing and watching the lizards.Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return. With a few simple improvements this could be an exceptional place to stay."

10/10 Excellent

"This is such a lovely villa in a quiet, beautiful part of Portugal. If you're looking for sleek and modern this won't be for you but if you're looking for rustic charm then you've come to the right place. The villa is quirky and spotlessly clean with a beautiful deep pool and endless fruit-filled gardens. The villa has everything you need and Eulalila was so very helpful. Both coasts are within easy reach by car and there are beautiful walks nearby. We would definitely come back."

Villa with heatable pool and jacuzzi

10/10 Excellent

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Baía Dos Tiros?

The best time to visit Baía Dos Tiros is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, September, and October.

During these months, the weather is pleasantly warm, ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities without the intense heat and larger crowds of the peak summer months. You'll find the sea warm enough for swimming, and it's a great time for exploring the coastal paths or enjoying a boat trip.

For those planning a relaxing beach holiday, late June, July, and August offer the warmest temperatures and longest sunny days, great for spending time by the sea. However, this is also the busiest period, so you should expect more people and higher prices for accommodation and flights.

If you're interested in golf or exploring the region's cultural sites without the heat, March, April, and November can be good options.
