Everything is excellent…except carrying suitcases upstairs as there is no lift/elevator. This becomes more of a problem as we age!

Wonderful stay in Aviemore!
Our stay at this hotel was incredible and we cannot wait to return. All staff were friendly and helpful and go the extra mile for you. Rooms were comfy and had everything we needed. It was in a great location with train station opposite and high street to walk along yet it was so quiet. Delicious food in restaurant at breakfast and dinner and lovely music played by piper. We cannot recommend it enough!

We spent a really relaxing night in this clean and comfortable traditional hotel. We enjoyed a nice meal in their dining room, and a free cooked breakfast was included in our room price.

The room was noisy with machinery running and the sound of running water. the room smelt of cigarette smoke despite being non smoking room. the food in the restaurant was average at best.

The staff was friendly, location was convenient as we were not driving and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel felt like we were in “Scotland”. There was a piper dressed in kilts outside in the evening and we enjoyed having a pint in the attached pub and listening to music or watching sports on the TV with the locals. Would definitely stay there again.

Building is lovely from the outside and the decor throughout the hotel and in the room is excellent, a good Scottish old world feel. Shame it faces out onto the road, but it's good for watching the world go by and you get some scenery across the back behind the train station. I didn't particularly like Aviemore itself, but if we were to go there again I would definitely want to stay here again.

Weekend stay
Always liked this hotel but the beds need an upgrade as they are very uncomfortable. Service is slow in the bar when busy but the food is really good as well as breakfast.

Very well situated opposite train station and bus stop. "King guest room" was not spacious owing to size of bed! Very nice new bathroom. Food good and servers charming, but we resented being unable to book a table for dinner and having to wait quite a while for one to become free.

Ideal hotel
Had a good time staying at the hotel for a couple of nights. We had a small double room which was ideal for the two of us with a comfortable bed. It was very clean with toiletries and a hairdryer provided. We were on B&B basis and the food was good. We didn't have dinner in the hotel but it was always busy in the restaurant with residents and non residents so must be doing something right. There is entertainment each night in the bar area. I would definitely recommend this hotel if planning a visit to the area. It has great prices and is located right in the centre of the village.

Comfortable stay.
Covid measures in place and felt very safe. Unfortunately, Hotel.com emailed that the check in time was 2pm. When we arrived we were officiously told that it was 3pm and that this was an on going problem. Room very comfortable and restaurant staff were very pleasant. On leaving we said thank you very much when we handed over our key to reception and got no acknowledgement whatsoever. Otherwise a very nice stay.

Highly recommended. This is very well managed hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The hotel and grounds are kept in a clean and presentable condition. The restaurant menu and food is first class. The only minor drawback is that there is no lift.

Great stay
We had a lovely night away at the Cairngorm hotel! The food is excellent a nice traditional room. Only thing I really missed was having a kettle in the room as when arriving back after midnight we couldn’t get a cup of tea. Other than that excellent stay.

The hotel has an authentic Scottish look and you can park right at the front. The staff wasn’t very friendly. They wouldn’t offer any dinner options 5 minutes after 9 and wouldn’t allow me to eat the food I brought in the communal areas so I ended up having to eat Indian take away in the tiny and smelly room. Far from what you expect when you pay for hospitality. It seems like they haven’t heard about sustainability at all so everything is in small non recylable plastic containers. The breakfast is thoughtful and wholesome but they put things in the menu they can’t make, like poached eggs and the quality is quite poor. If you want an experience from 20 years ago this might just be the place for you but I think you can find better hotels these days.

Poor Check-in attitude from staff
We booked this hotel for a 4 day spring break and were informed by letter that check-in was after 2:00pm. We arrived at 2:20pm to be told that we couldn't book in until after 3:00pm and our letter was wrong. The two woman from behind the reception couldn't have been more vocal, rude, descending, and ignorant. They didn't even bother to take our name or even check that the room was ready. This was done in front of the reception desk which was busy with diners entering the dinning room. I don't know if they expected us to leave and come back later! We sat down with all our cases and bags etc in the reception to wait until 3:00pm came. Eventually another lady came and sat down with us and she took our name and apologised for the behaviour of the other two and checked us in once she found out the room was ready prior to 3:00pm. The room was neat, tidy and clean and adequate for the break. The food in the dinning room was very good and the bar was lots of fun. The two behind the reception desk didn't improve over the few days stay as dropping off & picking up the room key was met with a glower when they could be bothered to look up from their terminals - perhaps there is staff training required here or they should look for another career outwith hospitality.
