  • Home of Freeman Walker, outstanding citizen of early Georgia. Born in Virginia in 1780, he came to Richmond County in his youth and studied law. Freeman Walker, in 1826, deeded 70 acres of land to the United States Government to be used as an arsenal-the site now of the Junior College of Augusta. He reserved one acre as a family burial ground, known as the Walker Cemetery. He was the father of Maj. Gen. W. H. T. Walker, CSA. Admitted to the bar in 1802, he followed a life of public service; City Attorney for three years and Mayor of Augusta 1817-19, being the first to hold the city´s chief executive office under the name of Mayor, and Brigade Inspector of Gen. Valentine Walker´s brigade in 1813. He represented Richmond County in both branches of the State Legislature and represented Georgia in the U. S. Senate. Cozy cottage

It is a super cute, clean, convenient backyard cottage. Easy check in and very close to everything. Our Keurig wouldn’t work and I contacted the property owner, we had a new one within a few hours. We would definitely stay again.

Great Stay in Augusta!

My Wife and I stayed in this great rental for one night on a road trip. Perfect 1 bed/1 bath property in a nice location - close to downtown Augusta! The rental was very clean and we enjoyed all of the small amenities - games/record player/bike/etc. This is the perfect little rental and we both said we wished we had another night (or few) here! Five Stars!!!

Firethorn in Augusta

Perfect for our stay to learn the area. Property is just as pictured and described. Very clean and well appointed. Centrally located in the medical district. Tucked back in a quiet neighborhood. Highly recommend.

Simple, clean, and cool

The check in process was a bit “dark” but it was stuff that will be easily fixed for the next guest. The place is nice, clean, and has cool decor. The furniture is good, the tv is big, and the bed is comfy. It isn’t stocked with much so make sure to bring everything you need (like all your toiletries, creamers, condiments).

Great stay for Masters weekend

Upon arrival, we quickly were able to access our home. It was clean and comfortable. Everything we needed was available for us. There was a notebook of places to eat. We took their advice and dined at two of the restaurants. Good choices for sure. We will definitely try to book this again if we receive tickets.

Great stay!

We are older and travel occasionally with our two Boston Terriers so combine dog friendly with one level and convenient parking. This sweet cottage was all that. If I anything to not like it would probably be the height of the bed. It was low to the ground and a little harder for older folks to get out of but it was comfortable. Plenty of plugs available for phone, watches and cop machines in bedroom. Nice neighborhood, we walked the dogs and felt very safe. Would definitely consider staying again whenever we find ourselves in Augusta.

Gas leak unsafe

Got to property it was nice smelled like bleach which i thout was good, clean. Went to dinner came back to horibble smell of gas. Contacted host to help but was taking care of his toddlers so couldnt do much. Up til 11pm with firemen and gas co to shut gas off.maybe looked at nect fay at 4 30pm

A Charming Retreat with Thoughtful Details

Our stay at the Firethorn: Summerville Cottage was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted by the beauty and charm of this lovely home. Every detail was carefully considered, from the unique style and designs to the thoughtful amenities provided. One highlight of our stay was discovering the record player – a delightful surprise that added a nostalgic touch to our experience. It was especially memorable for my daughter, who had never seen a record player before. The location couldn't have been more perfect. Close to everything yet tucked away in a serene neighborhood, the Firethorn offered the best of both worlds. Our time here was so enjoyable that we're now considering a move to the area! The Firethorn has truly captured our hearts, and we can't wait to explore more of what this wonderful community has to offer. Thank you to the owners for creating such a wonderful retreat. We'll definitely be back!
