This AuTrain Lake cabin located only 30 minutes from Marquette and minutes from Munising is on the edge of the Hiawatha National Forest offers all seasons of activities. A 12 mile drive you'll be on the doorstep of the Pictured Rocks Lakeshore. Our quaint cabin offers both a rustic and modern feel and is just 25 feet from the shore of AuTrain Lake for a breathtaking view. It's also 3.5 miles from the most beautiful beach on Lake Superior where the river empties into the great lakes largest body of water. A short 12 mile drive to Munising, you will be at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. A relaxing scenic 30 mile drive along Superior takes you to Marquette, the largest U.P. city, is full of excitement with it's famous brewpubs, restaurants, historic homes, buildings, and culture, with multiple activities and the most beautiful lake Superior shoreline with it's parks and sandy pristine beaches.
Enjoy the sunrises with coffee inside the cabin, or on the outside decks with wicker furniture, or a beverage by a fire on the water, as the moon rises across the lake. You will love the picturesque lake views of the north, east, and southern skylines. Viewing the Northern Lights is alway possible from our dock that extends 65 feet into the lake. Let's not forget the areas biggest attraction, canoeing or kayaking down the slow moving and meandering AuTrain River to Lake Superior. This trip takes approximately three to six hours and area rentals are available.
As the Fall colors take center stage when the cool fall air rolls in, guests will enjoy hiking, kayaking, hunting (duck, grouse, deer) and sharing stories by the camp fire.
In winter as the colors give way to the white powdery snow covered ground, guests will enjoy Alger County's Vally Spur, where you can ski, snowshoe, bike, hike and enjoy nature. quiet, secluded well kept very clean very comfortable setting. We have stayed at many VRBO‘s and the host’s, Phil and Eric, exceed them all. This is the first time I have ever left a review, but we had such a great time at a great place, I decided to post this comment.
We had a wonderful 5-day stay at this cabin. The lake was so peaceful. The cabin offered good space, was well stocked and in a great location. Easy drive to Munising.
We spent a very relaxing week here and will be back . The property is private and quiet. It’s situated conveniently to Munising and Marquette and all they have to offer. It would be hard to find a more idyllic lake experience.
This cabin has a little bit of everything, enjoyed beautiful sunrises and sunsets sitting on back deck. My 2 grandsons enjoyed the kayaks and fishing there. Close to downtown Munising where we did Picture Rocks kayaking!!! Just all and all a beautiful cabin in a great location!
This was the perfect cabin for us! The cabin itself was cozy, well-stocked & a "must have" for my husband was the comfortable recliner! Phil & Ben were great to communicate with and the listing was detailed & accurate. This was one of the most relaxing vacations we've had because of the cabin and the location. Be sure to check out the local AuTrain hiking trails!
We had a wonderful stay at the Quaint Cabin on Au Train Lake. From the kayaks to the fire pit to the comfy beds to the wonderful views and proximity to Pictured Rocks. This place has it all! My children enjoyed having the upstairs all to themselves with a bed for each. We loved having a great view of the water while eating our meals. The kitchen was appropriately stocked and we had no trouble creating wonderful meals and memories there. We would love to have an other opportunity to stay at this Quaint Cabin. You should book this place, no matter the season!
We spent a few nights at Phil's family cabin on Au Train lake before moving our daughter back in at NMU. The cabin is so cozy and cute - it was perfect for my husband and I, and our 4 kids. Even though the kids are older now (10-19) - they loved that they had the loft space for the 4 of them. We enjoyed hiking at Pictured Rocks (which is gorgeous), dining at a few Muinsing spots, kayaking/canoing on the lake and the connecting rivers, having campfires by the lake at night, grilling out, and just hanging out by the lake as a family. It was such a special spot to reconnect as a family before starting school back up. We hope to be back to visit again! Thank you for sharing it with us.
My family of six had a wonderful stay at this peaceful cabin. The location is beautiful, just steps away from the peaceful Au Train Lake. The cabin comes with 4 kayaks as well as a canoe, which permitted us to explore the lake as well as the nearby river flowing into the lake. Additionally, the cabin is close enough to Munising that we were able to make convenient day trips to explore the Pictured Rocks. As for the cabin itself, it was the best stocked of any rental we've stayed at. Our children loved the loft which was furnished with four beds; my wife and I, meanwhile, slept comfortably in the bedroom located on the main floor. Finally, the owner, Phil, reached out several times to make sure we were comfortable and our vacation was going well. On the whole, the cabin and the property is a great place to make lifelong memories.
The property was exactly as pictured and perfect for our stay. The water and swim area by the dock exceeded our expectations. We weren’t able to use them due to cold and rainy weather during our stay but the little sand walk in area as well as the dock with stairs into the water would be perfect for swimming at the property as well as kayaking on a calm leg of the lake. The location in AuTrain made it centrally located to the other UP attractions we were able to see and near the M28 scenic drive we took to see them. Nearby beach access, little grocery and a good and ice cream place. AuTrain river kayaking (easy and great) is right down the road and Munising is a short 20 minute drive. This property really gave us our own slice of the UP with everything else close. The owner was very kind and easy to work with as well.
We would very much like to come back in the future and would stay here again.
Awesome cabin on the lake would highly recommend. There is a trail right down the road and plenty of room for trailers so if you're going up to ride there's a trail head right down the road and can ride right from the cabin. The host is awesome and very accommodating and easy to work with and provides you with everything you need.to make your stay a great one
Wonderful location. Easy access to Marquette, Munising and Whitefish. Peaceful and serene location. House was equipped with everything we would need. Hosts were easily accessible, had suggestions for things to do in the area and places to eat. Highly recommend.
Tranquil atmosphere with an abundance of wildlife. The interior of the cabin had a full kitchen, comfortable living area to gather, and enough space for my family of four to coexist for a long weekend. We enjoyed kayaking and fishing with evening campfires. This property is a 5 min drive to Lake Superior and a clean beach.
The cabin, lake, boating, fishing, proximity to other points of interest and rural setting made this location excellent for building lasting memories!! The owners were knowledgeable and helpful. Fantastic communication! Thank-you from our family to yours!
Au train lake is right out side of your door. Beautiful tranquil setting. Wonderful fully equipped kitchen. Very clean. Host did a great job in all his communications.
This cabin is absolutely perfect. The vibes could not be better. From the interior decor, to the thoughtful provisions like the great fire pit and kayaks, this is the perfect cabin for a UP adventure. Communication with the host/property manager was excellent as well.
This was our first trip to the UP based on the recommendation of our son’s college roommate who is a native Michigander. Our older children 16-18 enjoyed the canoe and kayaks while our youngest caught his first solo fish from the dock.Like the title says we stayed here with our 4 children. Three of which are 16 and above. The cabin was cozy but slept everyone fine.Phil was great to communicate with and offered several suggestions for things we could try and see during our visit.
Communication with the owners was amazing
The cabin was very clean and the pier was great
I loved sitting in the deck every morning having my coffee
Bugs were pretty bad but we dealt with it
If I had any advice it would be to power wash the under side of the deck before guests arrive
I have two kids who absolutely hate spiders, but again the cabin inside was lovely and clean and had everything we needed
Waterfront view was breathtaking, abundant with wildlife and nature. Very well-kept and maintained, charming property with so much to do. Special touches throughout. Great communication. Wanted for nothing. Perfect UP retreat. Just a short drive to Lake Superior, Munising and Marquette. What a lovely place. We hated to leave!
We had an amazing stay. The cabin is so spacious on the inside. The accommodations were fantastic, everything was well stocked and we really didn't need much. The view is fantastic. The check in process could not have been easier. This was my first vrbo stay, so I was hesitant about this part. The owner was so helpful in recommending restaurants and things to do. They even notified us that we could check in early. Something I did not expect to love so much were the locals! Literally the nicest people you could meet and everyone was helpful. Highly recommend booking a kayaking tour with Northern Waters Adventures. We can't wait to come back!
We had a great trip. Cabin was fantastic, clean, comfortable and fully stocked with whatever we could have needed. Phil was great with providing information about the area and communicating with us. It's an ideal property for exploring pictured rocks and the local area. Just a short drive from town, but you feel like you're a world away when you return to the lake house. It was the shoulder season, so we literally had the place to ourselves. Not a person in sight at the cabin save for a few boats and kayakers passing by on the lake every now and then. Got to use the provided kayaks on au train, do some fishing and watch the birds and waterfowl in the mornings & evenings. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks so much for a great trip!
