As potential renters scan reviews they should know that the house is everything the owners advertise. Emphasis on clean. Small, yes. We had 2 adults & 4 children (14 and 12). I wouldn't recommend the unit for any more adults. The "3rd bedroom" shown offers a quality pull out sleeper sofa, night stand and 1/2 bath. Good for kids. Wouldn't work for a 2nd couple. The bunk-bed room is the only rm w/out a/c. Again, okay for kids because of the ceiling fan. But, it wouldn't work for a 2nd couple. The 2nd outside shower was very useful w/ 4 kids. What it lacks in size is made up for in convenience. SHORT walking distance to everything!
Beach entrance is a hop, skip and a jump. So, lugging a surf boards, cooler, umbrellas, blankets, towels, toys etc. was no problem at all. They do check tags on week days. The kids were able to take surf lessons at Primal Surf and the drive to rent and return boards daily was 3 minutes, which made their Dad happy.
The kitchen only seats 4 but the unit offers 2 porches so we were able to split up the groups and everyone ate in comfort. In addition, the kitchen has a full compliment of serving bowls, trays, utensils and other accoutrement to make prepping and cooking in easy.
Its 15 min to Atlantic City where took our kids to the Boardwalk and Steel Pier where they shopped till they dropped. Rides on the Steel Pier are not recommended for kids over 14.
Recommended Eats: Aunt B's ice cream, Ernest & Son for grinders, Andre's Pizza for all your good Italian eats. Perfect for families. Only 5 star dining would be in Atlantic City.
Negatives: 1.) The bizarre smell from the shower and sink drains at night. I can only categorize it as ocean/island plumbing... Would it stop me from going back? Absolutely not! It is-what-it-is and fortunately it's only noticeable at night when the air settles. 2.) Lack of a gas grill. I'm not a fan of the George Foreman grill concept so the tiny round electric grill on the back deck was the pits! And whew-boy is it messy!! Picture grease splatters from a frying pan all over your deck.
To make up for the 1 negative: We had a problem with something in the unit upon arrival. Immediately upon calling the owner, she brainstormed potential fixes w/ me and we were happy with the resolution. Good customer service goes a long way in my book.
