The best area to stay in Astfeld is the village centre, particularly around Goslarer Straße, for its convenience and access to local amenities.

This area is the heart of Astfeld, offering a selection of guesthouses and holiday flats. It's well-connected by local roads, making it easy to get around by car. You'll find a few local shops and eateries here, providing a comfortable base for your stay.

Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will appreciate the village centre. It offers a relaxed setting with easy access to walking and cycling paths that lead into the surrounding Harz foothills. You can enjoy quiet evenings and the charm of a traditional German village.

Families will also find the village centre practical. The accommodation options often include self-catering facilities, which are handy for longer stays.

The best time to go to Astfeld is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months for pleasant weather and outdoor activities.

During spring, the Harz region surrounding Astfeld comes alive with blooming wildflowers and lush greenery. The temperatures are mild, making it ideal for hiking and cycling on the many trails. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season, offering a more peaceful experience.

Autumn brings stunning foliage to the Harz mountains, with vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows. The weather remains comfortable for exploring, and it's a great time for nature photography or enjoying a leisurely walk through the forests. Many local festivals celebrating the harvest also take place during this period.

While summer (July and August) is popular for families due to school holidays, it can be busier with more tourists. Winter (November to March) offers opportunities for skiing and other snow sports in the higher elevations of the Harz, but Astfeld itself might be quieter with fewer attractions open.
