Our family had the most incredible experience at Bearwallow Mountain for my daughter's wedding. The breathtaking scenery provided the perfect backdrop for her special day, with the mountainside offering an unforgettable setting for our intimate gathering. The accommodations were spotless, making our stay comfortable and welcoming. Beyond the wedding itself, there were plenty of activities to enjoy, allowing everyone to make the most of the beautiful surroundings. From peaceful moments soaking in the mountain views to exploring everything Bearwallow had to offer, it was truly a magical experience. A perfect place for a wedding and a wonderful getaway for family—one we will cherish forever.
Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The property is breathtaking, with gorgeous views in every direction. Both houses were perfect—spacious, beautifully maintained, and stocked with everything we needed. The hosts went above and beyond to accommodate our special requests for the small wedding we celebrated on-site, helping make the day truly unforgettable. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
We had an awesome weekend with family and friends celebrating our daughter turning 30! Spent a lot of time on the covered deck playing bags (supplied by property) chatting and using the hot tub. Hikes right off the property. There is so much to do right on the property, but also took a scenic drive through Chimney Rock and spent the day at Lake Lure. Both homes are well stocked and conveniently labeled which was appreciated by all!
Beautiful views. Lots of room for kids to play and for everyone to gather. Both houses are great. But, be prepared that Bearwallaow cottage states 4 bedrooms, but that is a bit misleading. There are 2 bedrooms, each with a bathroom on the main floor. The loft has a two sleeping areas - one with a queen bed and one with 2 singles and a bunkbed. These areas are open to the rooms below and to each other. There is no door. This is a problem if the guests in those areas would like privacy and/or quiet from the other area or the rooms below. Other than that, I would highly recommend this for a group.
Our family stayed here for 3 nights, Thursday-Sunday and my husband and I got married on the property and had a reception at the pavilion. This location was beautiful and Allan was terrific and so quick to answer questions. We could not have enjoyed our stay more
We absolutely loved our stay at the Poplars at Bearwallow! Both houses were fabulous and had everything we needed. The labeled drawers, cabinets and light switches were super helpful, and we loved all of the little touches like string lights that just made everything so cozy! Oh, and the pickleball court was awesome! We would definitely stay here again.
We were a group of friends having a mini reunion and had a wonderful time. We rented both houses, and there was plenty of space for all of us. We really enjoyed the amount of room that the space provided for the entire group- and the outdoor seating on the decks of the houses was so nice in the beautifully mountains!
The communication with the manager was super easy and the entire experience was professional and very easy. We would definitely go back!
My large family (25ppl) absolutely loved our stay at Bearwallow. The property was clean, well-maintained, and had all the amenities. We especially loved the event pavilion/pickleball court and the hot tubs. The views were spectacular and we all hope to return in the future for another family gathering. The homes had plenty of room and never felt crowded. Absolutely would recommend this place.
The deck at the retreat house was great for the toddlers as well as the bigger kids. The adults enjoyed coffee on the porches and the quiet atmosphere. Pickle ball was a hit in the Pavilion. We enjoyed hiking the trail adjacent to the property. We were able to go to the beach at Lake Lure and the ‘biggest kids’ loved the winery at the Biltmore. The property was convenient to both.
We have a large family and wanted to spend vacation in the mountains since we have traditionally done the beach each year. These two large beautiful homes with incredible views and so close together gave us that opportunity. The pavilion was a great place for pickle ball tournaments and general running around by the kids. The expansive decks on both properties afforded ample gathering space for our large crew. The huge lawn on the hill gave kids plenty of space to run, roll, and slip-and-slide. We hiked some great trails right off of the property as well as those nearby. Everyone in our group fell in love with these homes and Bearwallow Mountain. Property management was easy to work with and the owners live just down the mountain. They were quick to respond to little requests, like a lighter to get the fire pit going. There is absolutely no need to leave the property, but we did make a trip into Asheville for a brewery tour and also to Lake Lure for some pontoon rentals. We all came home with buckets full of memories of a fabulous family reunion vacation.
This location was perfect for our wedding weekend with friends and family. The weather ended up to be great and Alan was a huge help with getting everything set and communicated with this every step of the way. Who would not be able to have the wonderful wedding that we wanted to without this location and his help. Highly recommend this spot to anyone for family reunions weddings or just enjoying the area.
The property was amazing. The cabins were up to date and extremely well equipped. We loved the pickle ball court, and the easy access to the hiking trails. The fire pits were grey and stocked with the woods, the hot tubs were great and the views spectacular. We couldn’t have had a better place for our large family gathering.
