Oros Luxury Beach Resort

"We had a fabulous time at Oros Resort. The staff, especially, were universally fantastic – warm, friendly and professional and could not do enough for us. Even though it caters to families, it is also a great romantic couples resort. With separate pools for families and adults and a lot of space it always feels calm, quiet and relaxed. The resort is finished to a very high standard and is very well thought out. The rooms are excellent. The resort’s part of the beach is the best on Episkopi – soft sand and, again, great attentive staff who are always on the lookout for things they can do for you. The one observation I would make is the resort is a long way on foot from a town and, although there are beach bars and tavernas along the beach, they are spread out, with often a fair distance between. The resort restaurants are great but if you want to find local tavernas outside be prepared for a 30 minute walk. All the tavernas between Georgioupoli and Petres could do with a shuttle bus to move people around. A special shout out for the restaurant Yaku which was amazing. We were initially surprised by the idea Nikkei cuisine in Crete but it was truly beautiful and, again, all the staff were brilliant. Chef Nikos Skamnakis is a master!"

"The location is really great and the hotel is lovely. The staff are incredible- friendly and helpful. Wonderful breakfast. Did not like the smell of the water in the toilet. I imagine it has to do with the water being recycled (grey water) and for such an expensive hotel to not replenish water bottles daily was a surprise. Everything else was fantastic."

"The property is beautiful and very well maintained. The staff will go above and beyond to help you. There were times where the kids overtook the pool, which without having kids, didn't make for the most relaxing time. Still a great stay. Breakfast was absolutely delicious!"

"Decent hotel overall which ticks all the boxes without quite reaching any particular 'wow' factor. The private loungers on the beach were a highlight and the beach is clean with good sand, clear water and great for swimming. Theres also 2 additional pools which are decent and not busy even in peak season when we visited. Being an adults only hotel meant that it was peaceful without noisy kids taking over, however there are a lot of screeching cicadas in the area which are a bit like sitting next to a car alarm especially on the room's balcony area. We opted for half board which was unnecessary as we went into town for dinner, the evening buffet was ok but not amazing, breakfast buffet was good though. From chatting to locals this is one of the bigger hotels in the area and one of the few adults only. Its well regarded locally but having been to varoius other 5 star places it wasnt exceptional, but for Chania its a very good option. The hotel is well located with a handy public bus service into old town; Chania town is very pleasant and has a lot of good places to eat but the best restaurants are away from the harbour. Overall an enjoyable stay."
