They told us to go to Golden Tulip Hotel what was just opposite to Mina Hotel. The Hotel receptionist told us the Mina Hotel and The Golden tulip have a some management. So we got the room in Golden Tulip. The Hotel room was very clean.Breakfast was good staff extra friendly and helpful. Location is just perfect. I recommend this hotel to everyone. Thanks for all of the staff we had a nice stay.

When i booked the room, according to Expedia, it included half board. Nevertheless, on arrival the hotel disputed this and claimed that only breakfast was included despite my Expedia booking confirmation showing half board. The person on reception wasn't very helpful and did little to resolve the problem. After talking to the Reservations Manager I was offered one complimentary dinner. Sadly, the hotel doesn't serve dinner in its restaurant, you have to go to their sister hotel - The Golden Tulip - over the road. On arrival the restaurant was rammed with people, so i just gave up. Aside from the issue with being ripped off over food, the rest of the experience was disappointing too. Half of the power sockets in the room didn't work, WIFI didn't reach the fifth floor, the air con was horrendously noisy even on a low setting, there was hardly any hot water in the morning and the bathroom was dirty. Bizarrely the TV remote, hair dryer and lamp switches were all covered in cling film, almost as if the hotel didn't want you touching them. All-in-all a poor experience. The one positive thing is the hotel's location, which is very central.

This was a terrible place! Apart from the receptionist who was nice and polite.... nothing to recommend at all! The hotel looks good on pictures but it’s a disaster In reality! The room was ok although nothing to be impressed with! The swimming pool was cas trophique and so was breakfast! I will never go back there even if I went for free!

Everyone at the Mina was very gracious and accommodating. The key card would not work on our room and there was no security lock. The person at the front desk changed our room. We were fortunate to get an ocean view. The area is active and great for walking night and day, and the breakfast at Mina is excellent. We would stay again when we return to Jordan

The hotel was badly outdated, which showed in all the details. The keycard didn't work and only the fourth time I had returned back to the reception and after the staff changing the room for two times I finally got in the room. The room was not properly cleaned, the floors were untidy and you were able to see your steps as on the unclean floor, the shower floor was full of sand, the sheets had burning marks. If I had had payed half the price the level would have been satisfactory. The staff was not too welcoming and I am not expecting anything special. The location of the hotel is however good in the city centre. That is definitely a positive side of the story.

Nothing was like the pictures they showed. The rooms didn't even have a working AC. Towels were ripped and bed sheets had brown stains on them. Supposedly there is free wifi but there wasn't and free parking was whatever you found in the street. This is more of a scam then it is a deal. Probably the last time I use Expedia! Shameful!

Value choice, super location
Mina hotel was a stop-over for us on our way to Wadi Rum and Petra. Although Aqaba was not one of the bigger attraction for us during our Jordan journey, a stop at Aqaba and a stay at Mina Hotel worked out great. Hotel itself is centrally located, has super WiFi and a very friendly staff. If you are passing through Aqaba or there for a longer snorkeling/diving activities, this hotel could be very convenient and very cost effective. Highly recommend it. BTW for foreign travelers, right across from the hotel are a bunch of restaurants and you can have a choice of cuisine wiithin steps away from where you live.

Great location, BUT only stay if others sold out!
Hotel was so dirty that we had to wear shoes in the room to prevent our feet from turning black, door on cabinet for fridge was coming off the hinges, fridge needed a defrost so to allow door to shut properly, shower in bathroom had flimsy rod holding up the shower curtain and shower sprayed out back and front. However, the room was huge, included a living room and 2 bedrooms in addition to the bath, beds were comfortable, and it was in a great location within walking distance to beach, restaurants, shops, etc. We could see the Red Sea from the windows, and although they lacked screens, it was great that they opened to catch the breeze. Pool was OK but towels and cleanliness were lacking. Staff was not responsive to our concerns about the couch in the room, which was stained and dirty like all the furniture (even in the lobby), and wreaked of rotten food or a dead mouse. Restaurant was closed the whole time we were there, but that's probably for the best. WiFi was terrible, and only barely worked in the lobby, ended up going to restaurant on corner to use theirs.
Couch in room - dirty, smelled bad

Disappointing
Our room was very nice but unfortunately the rest of the hotel was very disappointing. They originally gave us the wrong room when we checked in and the wifi didn't work for our whole visit. The hotel was under refurbishment and so was very messy with building equipment and materials in the corridors and blocking the stairs and we couldn't use the pool area as this was also being refurbished. Breakfast was quite limited and the receptionist didn't even know where breakfast was being served and sent us to the wrong floor.

Basic, clean, a little noisy
Spent two nights at Mina, mother and daughter, early twenties. Tons of sugar estate smoke in the lobby; couldn't use pool because full of kids and men; this was quite disappointing. This is a conservative Arab Muslim country. Women travellers need to remember this.

Good hotel
Good hotel, across the road from some restaurants and good facilities (an alcohol shop with a good selection of European drinks, esp beers, proved handy). Sea view apartment had a lovely balcony, perfect for watching the sun go down. Room was comfortable. Only real gripe was that the swimming pool area looked tired and the bar woman in the upstairs bar was so rude, we chose not to drink there again! Breakfast was reasonable too.

Disappointed
We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the room (floor not cleaned and slime in the shower. Plastic cups in bathroom had someone else's toothpaste remains in them). We also had to ask for towels to be delivered even after leaving them hanging so as to not have them replaced during our 2 day stay. We were also disturbed at 2.00 am on the last morning of our stay with a call from reception saying our driver was waiting. After some discussion it was determined that reception had dialled the wrong room. The final insult was to have the reception person accuse us of stealing from the mini bar when we checked out. The mini bar was never fully stocked during our stay despite two visits from housekeeping staff during the first day. I am still extremely offended that after saying that we did not use the mini bar during our stay, the male receptionist said "perhaps your wife used it when you were not looking". My wife was standing right there when he made the accusation. We will not be recommending the Mina hotel in Aqaba to anyone.

Good location in "central Aqaba"
A hotel that lives up to the rating. Good location in the "city centre" of Aqaba. Restaurants just around the corner and also easy to get a hold of taxis outside the hotel. Located just behind Doubletree by Hilton. The hotel (as well as most others) is cooperating with "Berenice" (a pool- & beacharea by the south beach you can go to by bus for apr. 10 JOD). The breakfast isn't the most culinary you can find, but enough to get full. Though very cold (due to A/C) both in the corridors and restaurant, so bring a warm sweater when off to eat breakfast. If you're thinking about ordering something by the waiter by the pool, it might be a good idea to ask for the price first...

Great hotel but maybe avoid Jordanian weekends
Location and position of the hotel is excellent, there is parking very nearby which helps if you have come from or going to petra/wadi rum. At the weekends Fri/Sat the hotel gets busy with locals coming from Amman and other areas. You could feel uncomfortable by the pool as it tends to be full of young men, with the girls locally dressed sat in the shade. Outside of these times it is quiet and always kept clean The main hotel is good, the breakfast isn't good and they often run out of bread and food during busy times -and weekends.

Terrible terrible experience!!!!!!
The worst experience I had on my trip to Egypt, Jordan and Israel was without doubt this place. They gave me a room on the 4th floor, room 408 if I remember correctly. It was absolutely disgusting!!! Dirtiest carpets I've seen in awhile, no towels and only after three phone calls to reception and 45min later did I get some to shower, no hot water, nowhere to put the soap so was left to put it on a terribly dirty and moldy shower floor and aircon didn't work. Only after going downstairs and complaining did they move into a room reminiscent of the photos they have posted on Expedia. Was happy with the room in the end but my experience was ruined by then. Breakfast in the morning was an absolute zoo. Kids running round like it was the school playground. The staff have no control. Avoid this place if you can.

Value for money
Located next to the Hilton, a perfect Hotel for stop over in Aqaba on way to Petra or over to Egypt. Restaurant & Bar top floor good views, breakfast perfect for price point, hire car companies downstairs next door (Thrifty/Dollar Plus)and across road (Hertz). Easy to find if driving into Aqaba. Rooms are clean and new, even mini bar! For price hard to beat. Reception staff even tried to assist with the Ferry booking sending bus boy up to the ride to try and buy ticket though had to do in person. Ferry to Egypt nobody really knows what time the fast ferry leaves as they are dictated to by the large tour groups! Yes you heard it here first, normally they go at 1pm though if a large tour group is running late they will hold the Ferry up hence call on the day, they don't tell you this, though when over 120 people turn up on tour buses at 17.50 with the ferry leaving at 18.00 it's easy to work out who runs the show!

Mina-hotel in Aqaba, Jordan
Me and my boyfriend had a nice first trip to Jordan and Mina-hotel. Mina`s location is very central; there is good restaurants, shops, bazaar-area, internet-cafes, beauty salon, banks and so on, very near by. Almost everything what you need in a holiday, is in walking distance. Mina itself is nice middle-class hotel, we had extremely good deal from hotels.com. Cleaning is excellent: every day changing sheets and towels and sweeping floors. Staff is polite and kind, my boyfriend even played biljard with management in the top floor bar. Breakfast was allright; changing selection and we sure had our stomach full in the morning. Room was nice and large, comparing to Europe standard, but little bit noisy. There is road in front of Mina and a mosque very near and our room was in the road side in 6th floor. From other rooms there was no noise but from the hallway yes. But these were no issue, I just put ear-plugs when I go to sleep! ;) I think that pool side rooms has not so much noise. Although I liked to watch local life and people from our road side room, so this was not problem to us. It was low-season, so there was not so many tourists but it was actually quite funny sometimes to be only customers in a restaurants, very VIP! :D In Mina there was lobby bar, main restaurant where they served breakfast and nice roof top bar, where was nice view. Only downside which I can think of Mina, is that there was no water in the pool and free WIFI didn`t work. Although management said that we can go to other nearby hotel use the pool and WIFI, so it was not unsolvable problem either. Few tips: there is not many rooms with balcony so if you like to have balcony, be sure to mention it. We had reguested balcony but there was not any left. Although in our room were three big windows which can open, so it was nice. If you are not smoking person, be aware that there is smoking everywhere. And I mean everywhere in Jordan.. :D And use taxis to make trips, it is cheap and service is good. We went to Petra and Wadi Rum desert with taxi and these were amazing trips! We did not go to swimming but notice that the nearby beach is public beach where local people hang around with clothes on, drinking tea and barbecue, so that`s not place to take sun or swim. There is very beautiful beach about 12km south from Aqaba, Japanese Garden, where is good to swim and explore corals with snorkling or diving. We went there but we didn`t swim because of the low air temperature and windy day but it was beautiful beach. All and all, I can recommend Mina-hotel to all, who are not expecting five star quality. Very good value of money, central location, kind and polite staff, good service. What more do you need, especially if you have a good deal? We had a lovely vacation in Mina and in Jordan, which is amazing, kind, honest, safe, real, fascinating and hidden gem country, I highly recommend!

Very friendly staff. I was upgraded and I had a room with balcony on the 7th floor overlooking the Red Sea and the harbour (room 704). Very comfortable room. I wish I stayed at the hotel longer. Nice breakfast. At the time of writing the pool was closed for maintenance and will propably be so for a while. The hotel is not brand new so it is a little bit worn. The hotel is in the city center so it is very close to shops, cafees and resturants etc.

Don't expect to much from the hotel although read so many good reviews about this hotel..but was really surprise when my wife and I see the glimpse of the hotel when we saw it for the 1st time from the main road..The building and the location really look like a 4 star hotel..but not the room..the interior is match to the hotel rate but it is clean and quite a spacious..and the view also is very good..will recommend to my friends..

Mina Hotel - good value for money
We got a very late booking at this hotel which did run surprisingly well. The room itself is fine and comfortable, and while not having a hotel beach the swimmingpool offers some nice rest after exploring the town or surroundings. It is very easy to access Aqaba from this hotel due to its central location. At the time of our stay the hotel was almost completely booked and a few guests made a lot of noise during the day from early morning. Here the managment could develop a little bit more pressure on those guests in favour of all others.

Great central Aqaba hotel
Hotel is perfect for a stay in Aqaba. Right in centre of town with restaurants/cafe's all around. Breakfast is buffet style with decent mix of choice. Room was very clean and satelite TV (only one main english channel - fox movies). we had booked a double room but were given a twin. housekeeping just moved two beds together but took until 3rd day before they made up the mattress sheet as a double. Not a major issue. pool is great and sunbeds to use. reception staff very helpful. Please do note that although payment by AMEX/VISA/MASTERCARD is advised, AMEX is not allowed, and we felt the staff tried to make lots of excuses why NOT to take credit card and only wanted local currency. in the end we went to their sister hotel next door and paid on mastercard there instead.

- This hotel is a total scam. We went there but it was under maintenance. The security guy sent us to Golden Tulip hotel. - The guy at the reception told us that Golden Tulip is 4-star hotel which is not even actually deserving 2-stars - The breakfast has almost nothing. And what they serve was all perished. - Rooms were horrible, noisy and dirty. - The staff attitude was the only thing we appreciated.
