Great holiday

We had a great holiday staying in the villa, which was plenty big enough for our party of 6 adults and 1 child. Georgia and Yannis were perfect hosts, always replying to queries and giving us lots of recommendations for restaurants and places to see. They met us with traditional Cretan pastries on arrival and cooked a delicious meal for us one evening. We also went with them to a village wedding of 1000 people which was amazing. There are lots of walks around the area. If you want to really get away from tourists and stay in a proper Cretan village then this is the place.

Fabulous holiday

From start to finish Georgia and her family we’re fantastic hosts and everything about the villa was brilliant. The grandchildren loved the pool and being able to relax around the villa was great. The actual views were stunning in real life. The Greek hospitality is second to none and everyone was very helpful in the shops and tavernas. Our whole family really enjoyed the holiday and being able to attend a Greek wedding was the icing on the cake. None of us wanted to leave. Xx

I cannot rate this villa, the owner and the surrounding area high enough. Every single aspect was fantastic. Georgia provides a wealth of information about the villa and local area and is always on hand for advice, without being intrusive. Georgia and Yannis are lovely people, our flight was delayed 5 hours and they still waited until 5:30am for our group to arrive, thank you!! The villa is stunning, clean and tidy with everything and more that you would need. This is about the 10th villa we have stayed in and it is number 1 rated.

Alles war perfekt, angefangen vom Willkommen bis zur Verabschiedung. Ein wirkliches Paradies und prima gelegen um die Insel zu erkunden. Sehr zu empfehlen! Superhosts!

Smukt og dejligt

Huset er skønt med to etager velegnet til to familier. Lækker pool med helt fantastisk udsigt. Det er ude på landet og man kan høre dyr overalt - geder, høns, fugle osv. Wifi fungerer godt. Værten er utrolig sød og hjælpsom. Hun hjalp os med virkelig mange ting som feks billeje, taxa og bådtur og reagerede med det samme på alle vores henvendelser. Man skal have bil, da det ligger lidt øde. Man kan køre til mange små strande, byer osv. vi havde et fantastisk ophold og jeg vil helt sikkert anbefale huset til familier, der gerne vil have et skønt hus med fantastisk udsigt og meget venlig værter.

Incredible place, wonderful experience

No words can describe how fantastic our stay in Villa Asigonia was. We visited many countries and places around the world, but this was so very unique. First, the house. Our family is big (10 people including 3 small children), but there was plenty of space for everyone. The villa is spacious, beautiful in Cretan style, spotlessly clean, and equipped with everything one may need. Kids loved the pool, the family had great time sun-tanning in comfortable chairs and admiring stunning views of the mountains. We were looking for a place away from tourist bustle, yet close to places worth visiting. We got exactly what we wanted. Asi Gonia is a village with a real Cretan feel. Olive groves, goats and sheep dot the mountainside. Everything is within walking distance, in a beautiful mountain scenery. And locals are so friendly, we were stopped when walking on the street and invited to share food and raki. The best of all – what a hospitality! Out hosts, Georgia and Yannis, became our friends in no time. They were driving daily from Rethymno to attend to our every need, and always went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. One night, on our request, Georgia and Yannis came to cook for us. What a feast it was! Fantastic Greek food that wasn’t so good in any other place except there – moussaka and bifteka and Greek salad. We could barely finish this excellent food in two days. Another day, Georgia took us for a walk through the village and to a place where local cheese and other local specialties are made, such as “pites” (?). These treats look like pancakes, but are filled with fresh, cheese. We fried them at home and they were delicious. We didn’t make our coffee in the morning, it was so nice to walk to the local café. One evening, Georgia arranged for us to have dinner and show at a nearby village Argyroupoli. We asked her to find a taverna with live Cretan music, and she found us Cretan traditional event with the traditional dances of Crete. We loved it, and the kids watched in awe the colorful costumes of the dancers. In that lovely taverna, terraced and surrounded by waterfalls, we ate lamb on a spit, famously the best in Crete. In their own words, Georgia and Yannis do it all from their hearts. They are devoted to hosting and love their job, and make any wish come true. We didn’t want to leave, and we would love to go back. Georgia and Yannis, thank you from our hearts!
