Run down hostel with false amenities

Hostel was not at the location provided in listing but 1.1 km away from the lake. Self-check in was fin but hostel was run down with many lights not working, cobwebs in hallways. Rooms were booked with private bathrooms but there was no private bathrooms. Bathrooms were communal and there was no shower just sinks with buckets. Sheets were clean but rooms had broken a/c, smelled of fumigation but there were still bugs, broken drawers and lights. It was the worst hostel I have stayed in. We booked three rooms across two reservations and one rooms was so bad that two people ended up sleeping in one room. Said there was free breakfast but it was only toast and coffee/tea. Do not recommend!

Dilapidated hostel that overcharged

Rooms are very basic and a lot of things are damaged and not working. We booked three rooms for three people and one was totally unserviceable so we ended up sharing one of the others. Rooms said they had private bathrooms but that was not the case. All rooms had to share a community toilet and there was only a Japanese washroom with no shower capability. No toiletries and no towels. Also map locations showed hostel along the lake but it was really over a 1km away up a slight hill. Feel this hostel misrepresented the rooms and location and will not be staying here again. There is another hostel called backpackers hostel that I would recommend over this run down option. It is closer to the lake and based on the way this hostel advertised, I actually had thought this hostel was backpackers hostel but it is not. Positives are: It was self checkin and they do offer bikes and moped for free use which is nice. I paid too much ($30) per person expecting private rooms and private bathroom and did not receive this. Lights did not work in two out of the three rooms. A/c was broken in one of the rooms. Power outlets were dangerous.

管理人の田中さんがご病気とのことでお会いすることは出来ませんでしたが旅人に十和田湖の素晴らしさや心のこもったおもてなしに感銘を受けました。治癒の難しい病気ですが体に留意され少しでも永くたま多くの方が利用出来るようまたホステルが続くよう応援したいです

Great location near Lake Towada. The best aspect of this hostel is the flexibility. You are totally free to cook your own food, wash clothes, etc. They have almost everything you can think of for just a small fee of around 100 yen. Everything is self-service which is very nice. They also have 350 yen bath tickets you can purchase for the very nice bath at the hotel right down the road.

the best thing is the ‘secret’ lookout point! it was raining but still breathtaking! the hostel needs a bit of cleaning and maintenance ti do though. but its super cheap, so i guess u get what u pay for.

Towadako Hostel is affordable price with 24 hrs. accessible facilities. The owners are very nice and caring, there were bikes free for guests which you can ride to the lake and explore around. My booking was the last available room, so it might be the old one with smell of dust. The Hostel area is large with a lot of rooms, and guests. I can see the hint of beauty of the place, but to be honest, it needs big cleaning and renovation and the place would be very nice again.

あまりにも品祖

トイレ、洗面所、シャワールームの状態がひどい。外国人の利用者はどう思っているのでしょう。 夕食にレトルトカレーとレトルトごはんを出されたときには苦笑するしかなかったです。 強いて評価するなら、トイレがウォシュレットだったくらいかな。

The dinner is kind of disappointing as all you get is just a pack of curry and a small box of rice that you microwave them yourself. Yet you can enjoy 24 hours breakfast with toasts, jams, orange juice and milk. There is a bug kitchen that you can cook for free with flavorings. Hot water supply is stable but not hot enough. It is a little bit far from the only bus station yet owner will provide shuttle services. On-sen ticket is cheap and seriously good, 350 Yen you can enjoy on-sen in TowadaSo. Owner is very helpful and nice. I feel like home. I will choose to come here again when I visit TowadaKo again. Oirase stream is unbelievably good.

難易度の高いゲストハウス

これまでドミトリーに泊まったことはありましたが、この価格帯の宿は初めてです。 私が宿泊した日はねぶた祭りの最中ということもあり、宿泊客がとても多く、 予約した女性専用ドミトリーも満室でした。 女性専用を選んだのは、セキュリティ面や着替えの簡便さを考慮してのことだったのですが、 私の同室のファミリーが深夜に到着するため内鍵はかけられず、またファミリーの子ども（男の子）が 頻繁に部屋を出入りしていたため、結局シャワー室で着替えることになったため、選んだ意味がありませんでした…。 また、ドミトリーのベッドは二段ベッドが置いてあるだけなので、近頃のゲストハウスで見られるようなベッドごとのカーテンや目隠し、コンセント、読書灯などはありません。 なので、アイマスクや耳栓があると良いでしょう。 ゲストハウスは全体的に建物が古く、整備する人も少ないためか清潔感は感じられません。 夏だったのでドミトリールームの畳に小虫が死んでいたり、シャワー室の足ふきマットや洗面台には髪の毛が落ちていました。 また、１階の女子トイレは鍵が壊れている個室があり、使っている最中に開けられてしまい、気まずい思いをしました。 ですがこの価格でねぶた期間に当日予約できるというだけでも価値があるのだろうと思います。 色々書きましたが、上記の点等ふまえて、納得のうえ宿泊されるのなら良いゲストハウスだと思います。 私には難易度が高かったです。

Nice hostel

It's a place to sleep and run by a very nice older Japanese man. There are also cheap tickets to a very fancy onsen nearby. The surrounding area is very beautiful and the free bikes available are helpful to get to the gorge. Look at the weather before you go and pack accordingly.
